Maybe Tessa should learn to keep her mouth shut.

I’ve been watching Cheers, starting with S1, E1. I’m in season 5 now, and it’s still good. Even though I already saw most of them when they first aired, it was long enough ago that I don’t remember most of them. The show holds up well over time.

I also tried watching Frasier. I only got into season 2 before I quit it. Couldn’t stand the fussy Crane brothers.

The 28 million is domestic receipts only. International receipts are over 100 million.

The movie cost $110 million to make, so the movie is already profitable.

Don't forget, due to accounting tricks, if a movie breaks even a lot of people have made a lot of money.

That’s why I watch almost exclusively British mystery shows now. They are far less PC than American shows. In the US if you have a gay character or suspect of color, that will not be the murderer! In the UK the person just may be the murderer and is not held up as a perfect person.

The big exception to political correctness in the UK is Doctor Who, and not coincidentally the producers since the 1980s have all been gay. It is so politically correct these days, not just casting a female doctor, that I gave up after 40 years.

“Seems no more original ideas.”

One of our sons, who is 50 something now, got into a big argument with his English teacher in his Junior year/high school by saying that and proving it.

Actually the Oceans movie ended up doing okay. It did about $300 Million worldwide so it may have made some money.

I ended up binge watching “Frazier” and loved it. I was very interested in the relationship between Frazier and his Father and it was so well done.

I read that studios have to earn 2 to 2.5 times the budget to break even due to marketing costs, and splitting profits with theaters.

“I have to wonder why they just don’t come up with a vehicle for women that is original? Is that just too hard to do?”

Apparently so. Hollywood is completely bereft of original any original thoughts.

I’m waiting for a remake of Pretty Womyn with trannies.

I’ll bet that’ll be a BLOCKBUSTER!

No that movie is not profitable. Budget was $110 Million, rule of thumb with marketing costs, etc. that film has to gross over $200 Million before the studio sees any profit. Don’t forget of that the theaters get 50% of the box office to start with.

They don’t care anymore. Well over a decade ago, the late great actor Ron Silver was on “Book TV.” Somebody asked if the US box office was important any more as sales were poor all over the country. He said no. He replied that Hollywood’s money priority is now foreign releases and DVD sales. I would assume it would be streaming now. Silver said that back in the early 2000s.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe marketing costs are included in the budget for making a movie.

Just an example of their accounting tricks (my brother-in-law worked in the accounting dept. at Tri Star): If a movie has a chase scene and a parked car is hit, that is a write off for the cost of that car. Later another parked car is to be hit. They take the same car, turn it around, paint it a different color and boom: second write off is obtained.

Small tricks like that are legal and plentiful in the industry.

They put Creed's wife in the lead role of Men In Black. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Yep, read that. They want Hollyweird to only make gender neutral/LGBT/politically correct films. People don’t want to watch a white screen with nothing on it. There’s more fun stuff to watch on YouTube.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I pay good money to see a movie it better have plenty of racial equality.
