God bless.
Only 62. It’s too bad. The article says she stopped acting in 1978 and became a nurse.
Family started a Go Fund me page to covet her last wishes for cremation. Thats pretty sad when you figure its about $4,700 with a graveside service.
My kids still quote her to me, in HER voice: “Cool it, Mother.”
I’m sorry, but the Johnny Deep remake completely pales in comparison to the original. I remember watching the original as a kid in 1976 and it is just a classic.
Gene Wilder had the Willy Wonka thing down perfectly: an apparently sunny disposition, under which was something hard as nails and a little bit menacing, under which was a heart of gold and a love of humanity.
The Depp remake wasn’t horrible, it was nothing like the original - and that was good.
Unlike the Ghostbusters remake which WAS horrible.
Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie Bucket in the original film never acted again. He became and still is a veterinarian.
Brioche Bismarck filled with blueberry custard and a lemoncello blueberry glaze.
Aw, damn... that’s too young.
I’ll also remember her for playing Amy on “Dark Shadows.”
Good for him.
Who pays those high costs? My family certainly didn't.
Both my parents were cremated. Per their wishes, we didn't spend money on funeral services or expensive urns. We spread their ashes in the river where they went fishing on their honeymoon.
Cardboard box for the ashes and the cremation ran $600 each.
My parents nor the rest of our family believe in spending a fortune on expensive coffins and funeral services.
My wife and I own a 30 acre farm in Florida. A half an acre is designated as a family cemetery. We pay no property taxes on it. I will be cremated when I die. The VA will supply a headstone at no cost. My wife or daughter will shovel a hole below where the tombstone will be placed to deposit my ashes.
Total cost: Zero dollars.
Johnny Depp version was completely stupid.
The orginal was very nearly NOT made, owing to early radical AfroCentric concerns about the original Oompah-Loompahs as being demeaning to Africa.
The caterwauling went on for many months, finally a compromise was struck.
They were portrayed as other-worldly with strange lashes and alient complexion, rather than African, per se.
The Oompah-Loompahs are a real tribe and in their area are supposedly famous for being especially lazy and un-innovative.
Green hair, orange face, white eyebrows.
She’ll always be Amy Jennings, Amy Collins, or Nora Collins from Dark Shadows to me.
$600! That’s cheap!
Around here a bare bones cremation in a cardboard box with nothing else is $3,600.00.
Denise Nickerson as Violet.
Prayers for her.
In addition to Willy Wonka Roald Dahl also wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, You Only Live Twice, James & the Giant Peach.
And, uh...he was one of us.
I think I've come across a few of their relatives.
