Planned evacuation follows contradictory statements by Russian authorities that have sparked more questions than answers over the deadly accident
Russias atomic energy monopoly, and of the Defense Ministry, have raised suspicions over the severity of the accident and whether officials are covering up details.
...spokeswoman said the evacuation was due to an unspecified event
The missile has been tested without its atomic components successfully, said a person close to the Defense Ministry. But the results of testing with the radio-isotope generator have been mixed, the person said.

In a series of statements Tuesday that were as contradictory as previous ones surrounding the explosion, the local government urged several hundred residents of Nyonoksa, where the Defense Ministry testing site is located, to leave their homes on Wednesday morning. The statements didnt provide details on why they were being asked to leave nor where they should go.
oops
This being Russia, Putin’s mini-Chernobyl on wheels should raise his poll ratings.
How about providing a few busses?
If you want some insight into Russia and their nuclear disaster, as well as being a fun read, try, ‘Wolves Eat Dogs’ by Martin Cruz Smith.
Or ANY of his Arkady Renko novels. (Gorky Park, et al) You’ll be entertained AND educated about how Russia REALLY works and you will THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS that you were born an American! :)
Ruskies poisoning the planet. Just like old times.
Is it 1986 all over again?
Three days later, they are like, hey, ummm maybe we should evacuate the city?
Pack you bags folks. It'll just be a temporary inconvenience. We've got the perfect place for you to rest, and relax, to get away from that pesky radiation fallout. Welcome to beautiful, downtown Pripyat. It's got everything you could ever want, even an amusement park.
I’d be more worried if they said you can’t leave the area now.
How about providing a few busses?

That’s what they did for Chernobyl. First they told people to ignore the smoking ruins of the reactor, that everything was safe. A parade and fair was held in the shadow of the smoldering remains. Then someone did the math and realized that everyone in the town would be dead once they reached 1 week of exposure. So they rounded up buses and told people not to bring belongings because they would be back in a few days. They bused people out and told them not to return.
So - they know how to send buses. Maybe the people remember those buses? :/
Its crazy I just started watching Chernobyl a few days ago. Tonights episode showed the evacuations.
Just watching Chernobyl is wild enough, good grief. I saw three episodes and quit
I figure our side has already got a good idea of the radioactive isotopes involved. That kind of analysis only needs tiny samples to reach a conclusion.
They always do this. Chernobyl, Kursk and others. But the truth always catches up.
But the results of testing with the radio-isotope generator have been mixed
Yeah, the radionuclides have been mixed with the surroundings and are mixing with the people. Good job Russia.
They sound a lot like the Eagles......
Agreed. I like my FACTS sprinkled with Fiction. ;)
