So if you wear mittens are you concealing dangerous symbols, or are you protecting yourself against misinterpretation of your fingers?

When being sent to SE Asia, we were told not to point our finger at anyone as they considered it to be a “curse” on them. Oh how many of these “crimes” did we do in our youth playing “Cowboys and ‘Indigenous Tribesmen’” or “Cops and Robbers.”
This makes giving someone the “finger” a new dangerous meaning.
