In a victory for religious freedom, a federal judge in Michigan ruled a Catholic adoption agency that contracts with the state will be allowed to refuse to handle adoption requests that would place children with LGBTQ couples.
The judge pointedly noted that in opposing the agency, the states attorney general engaged in a targeted attack on the agencys sincerely held religious belief.
The ruling came Sept. 26 in a case cited as Buck v. Gordon, which involved Lansing-based St. Vincent Catholic Charities, along with Chad and Melissa Buck, parents of five children with special needs, and Shamber Flore, a former foster child.

Until it gets bumped up to a higher court.
What this case is about is whether St. Vincent may continue to do this work and still profess and promote the traditional Catholic belief that marriage, as ordained by God, is for one man and one woman. In 2015, Michigans state legislature passed a law designed to ensure it could do just that.
Ok so they handled same-sex placements before but now want to refuse to do same-sex placements? What changed?
it was sort of rhetorical and sarcastic, but i will say that no one will be using the secular agency i predict.
