I hope the charges are the same if the situation were reversed, but I have a sinking feeling they would not be.
I hate made up crimes.
It’s enough of a crime to assault someone like that and intend to cause that kind of bodily injury. They don’t need to add made up crimes to it.

Did anyone else notice that the victim spat in the face of the acid thrower just before the toss?

So this attack might not have been a hoax?

Of course, as always, there is no such thing as hate crime.

I’ve gotten battery acid over myself, but it wasn’t an earth-shaking, permanently disfiguring experience. I washed it off and can’t say I felt any permanent effects, other than skin that was a little dry. The guy’s a bit of a dipstick, but I’d say misdemeanor at best. Here’s an interwebs account of a similar exposure:
[class 12 picnic it was! I was carrying the battery alone. as it was heavy i tried adjusting its weight and that effort made the acid came out from the battery and all of a sudden my whole new denim jeans was spilled by the battery acid. For the first time it looked like normal drinking water bcoz it didnt had any impact on my jeans rather than making it wet. Unfortunately all my skepticism was lost on the 3rd day of the incident. When my jeans started to tear from all over the area. yes i couldnt wear that jeans again.
Yes battery acid didnt have any impact on the skin though it can damage your clothes.]

Nothing worse than an attack with racist acid... Or did the author mean rancid acid?
