Bring Out Your Dead

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

The most recent assessment is that the Wuhan Flu is much more contagious than ordinary flu viruses but is not quite as deadly.

It is more contagious and more deadly than the normal flu.
It is only 10x more deadly than the normal flu. .092% vs 2.4% as of yesterday.
Others will explain it.
We always get a burst of this stuff at the start of a thread. Don’t feed them and they go away.

Most of the U.S. passengers on the Princess ship in Yokohama have elected to come home to face a fresh quarantine. Other first-world nations are in the process of getting their citizens out.
But what of the crew? I have no idea of their accommodations below, but they have to be worse than even the inside cabins for the passengers. Since most crew are from poor nations I don’t expect any rescue flights for them. As paying passengers leave, will crew be moved up to cabins for better isolation?
