As far back as probably 1990 I happened to watch about 10 minutes of the end of an animated TV series for children. A multicultural, multiracial team of teenagers in the show solved a mystery. The villain was confronted: a bald, overweight white man in his late 50s who looked like Karl Rove or the late Roger Ailes. He was caught illegally discharging pollutants from his factory into the water and endangering fish and wildlife.
Kids must have thought "Boy, if I ever meet up with one of those types I'll bring them to justice, too."
They've now been voting for years and have their own mush headed children.
Not anymore.
According to the way the character was originally written, Peter Parker invented the wrist mounted web fluid 'ejectors' as well as the web fluid. There was a bulb fitted into the palm of his hand(s) that actuated the dispensing of the web fluid he invented.
And the replacement of white characters with black ones.
Two examples are the Tom Cruise "Risky Business" character in the Dominoes pizza ad. Sliding across the floor to that Bob Seger tune is now a black guy. Why?
The other is now Jake from State Farm is now black. Same commercial but "Jake" is a black guy. Why?

Aren’t these characters in costume, usually? Trying to blend in with us regular folks until the spam hits the fan and then they are are in costume.
