The Ole Times Buffet in my hometown of Warner Robins, Georgia(home of Jake Fromm) is converting to cafeteria style.
Had a sign out front... Opening May 27th, cafeteria style.
Smart to adapt. Even smarter if they stay all you can eat.
Wonder if the Chinese Buffets will also do the same.
Yeah normally by the time we leave most restaraunts the rush is over anyway
and its probably the first restaurant I will hit. Im craving a draft beer something fierce.

Your beer will be flat.
Did you see that article about MILLIONS of kegs around the country in bars, restaurants, stadiums, arenas, etc. that have gone bad due to no one drinking?
Bummer.
Yes. The food has to be served/dished out by an employee.
No more helping yourself.
mess hall style, customers don’t get to touch the serving utensils.
Six months will tell, Kemp is either going to be a hero or run out of state on a rail......
I believe he was right...... and pray he was right....
Six months? No.
Six Weeks.
Expand outdoor seating
The plasma place, BioLife, was also open and had a pretty full parking lot.
That’s the place where you give plasma for cash.
Kemp is giving a press conference right now.
It’s on the local news channels.
He sounds really good and really competent.
Forgot that we were the poultry capital of the world...
and he said those plants are doing pretty good with their safety precautions.
Cafeteria style means someone serves the food from behind a counter. Put on a plate and handed to customer. Only the server picks up the serving utensils. Yes, the tray slides along. Customers only pick up tableware.
I think the steak houses used to serve that way.
That is my take as well.
That’s the way Hot Shoppes used to function.
I miss them.
As of now, nursing homes and assisted living facilities are still under quarantine until May 13th, and Kemp said that may have to be extended....
which is perfectly understandable.
That is an area where Kemp doesnt get enough credit. Early on he put considerable National Guard resources into helping nursing and assisted living homes clean up.
Very true and he must be very cautious about everything. For once, they may not be spying on him but he still needs to play this close.
I think we ought to return to automats! Man, I loved those things as a kid. Automats and drive-ins... I’d be happy. :)
As we were leaving I gave a very large tip to more than make up for the difference, and they wouldn't take my money.
I now try to plan all my North/South travels to have a meal at Old Time. I highly recommend a visit for a tradition Southern meal.
