An alligator rumored to have once belonged to Adolf Hitler has died at quite a remarkably old age.
The reptile -- who goes by Saturn -- recently passed away in the care of the Moscow Zoo, which he called home since the 1940s after he was discovered by British soldiers and gifted to the facility shortly thereafter ... once Germany suffered defeat in WWII, of course.
Saturn is actually said to have survived a bombing at the Berlin Zoo back in 1943 -- where he had been living after being shipped there from America in the mid-'30s -- and somehow lived among the ruins until he was found again in 1946. After that, Russia was his new home.
For some reason ... rumors swirled in Moscow that the alligator might've once been part of Hitler's personal collection of exotic animals. The Moscow Zoo says it became an urban legend but doesn't elaborate on why something like that might've even been thought.

Putin will get a new pair of shoes, belt and a wallet.
I wonder if “Captain Jack” is still alive?
Hitler liked alligators...
Trump wears Lacoste.
Ad you know...I for one could care less about Hitlers’ “pet” gator on this Memorial Day weekend. Leave it to TMZ to come out with this stuff.
LOL! It’s true that the Russians bombed the Berlin zoo...I believe there was a big AA battery nearby. There were definitely battles there when the Russkies were moving in but I doubt that Herr Hilter had time for pet adoption!
POTUS Trump will get the skull and the left will try to impeach again.
I thought I had seen in documentaries that the Berlin zoo was pretty well cleaned out by the time the Russians got there.
The Berliners were starving.
Lol!
Hitler was a Florida Gator fan.
I thought Hitler was more of a dog person.
While Hitler may have not owned it, he toured various facilities for propaganda purposes, and no doubt saw it at least once and was aware of its existence.
Well, that's one of the more bizarre things someone has associated with Hitler.
I’m not sure of this story.
WW II ended 75 years ago, so the alligator was supposedly alive the entire war from beginning to end.
Alligators are cold blooded, unless Berlin and Moscow had special locations to keep them from freezing I don’t see how either location could have supported an alligator.
Besides if the alligator is really 84 years old which is not unheard of, it would have been born in 1936, where would you get an alligator in Berlin in 1936 and have the facilities to keep it alive all this time...
If it was an American alligator, maybe he was sent to Germany on a mission to eat Hitler, but never had an opportunity.
Hahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!
That one caught me by surprise and nearly made me spit my pipe out!
Hitler discovers his per alligator has died
Dumb reporter. What would be surprising is if they got a number of animals from Germany after the war and there were not any rumors that one of the animals had been Hitler's pet.
