One crest is removed from one gate, more than likely for maintenance.
Buckingham palace is scheduled to undergo maintenance and the Queen has been at Windsor Castle due to Covid.
Public Duties are carried out by more than just the Household Division. As one commenter on Youtube pointed out, the guard appears to be from the RAF Regiment, not the Gurkhas.
A lot of different units have carried out Public Duties over the years including the RAF Regiment, The Royal Marines, The Royal Navy, and numerous Commonwealth units.

My guess is that they are getting the palace ready for renovations.
The Queen did the last State Opening of Parliament, after the December Election, without regalia because it was an extra opening that had to be squeezed into her schedule.
The State opening normally happens in the fall. And IIRC, they just had one last fall. before the Election was called. So to save prep time, a stripped down opening was held, she did not wear a gown, and took a Rolls Royce instead of a carriage to Parliament. The Imperial State Crown was on a pillow. (Like what she does for Scottish Parliament openings, because in that case, the Scottish regalia is very fragile and wearing it would damage it.)
One of the youtubes said that the Prime Minister was using it and that sections were boarded off due to covid. Who knows. Renovations makes more sense.
BoJo is being allowed to exercise on the grounds.
