University of Virginia changes logo to remove reminder of school's link to slavery

When the University of Virginia unveiled its new logos in April, the school was sure to highlight some new curves added to the handles of the crossed sabres that have traditionally stood for Cavaliers athletics. The detail was added to mimic the serpentine walls that surround the garden space on the Charlottesville, Va., campus, the university said at the time. But the Cavaliers introduced another set of new logos Tuesday, replacing the ones from the spring. Everything appears the same, with the exception of the sabre handles, which are again straight and smooth. Turns out the serpentine walls aren't exactly a source of pride for the school.

Will all the apparel with the aborted logo be shipped to Africa??? I was hoping they would end up on the clearance section of places like SteinMart and TJ Maxx. I bought some nice UVa t-shirts on the cheap at those places. I guess for UVa's sake Charles I appears to not be on the BLM UK hit list although Charles II and James II are. UVa would not be able to change the nickname to Roundheads as Cromwell is on the hit list too.

If linkage to slavery is enough to be banned then UVA needs to close as it was founded by Thomas Jefferson.

No but the new products will be made in some southeast Asian country by children under slave labor conditions.

That is okay, they aren't the skin color.

The very definition of racism.

That's coming.

Then they'll go after the endowment fund.

Speaking of James II, he was also the one time Duke of York, and specifically the individual that New York was named for.

Leftists are not good historians, but they are reactionaries when they find out something is somehow related to racism or slavery.

When they find out the namesake of the city and state of New York was instrumental in capturing African forts in order to establish the slave trade, will they attempt to rename those locations?

And as an added bonus, the current Duke of York just happens to be a suspected pedophile, and one-time close friend of Jeffrey Epstein (who didn't kill himself).

The pyramids were built by slaves. So was the Great Wall of China.

The Democrat Party should be disbanded. Most racist organization to ever exist.

This is the party whose 1924 Convention was know as the "Klanbake." I just did a Google Search on Klanbake and followed some of the links.

It's interesting to note that there has been a lot of revisionism going on since the last time I did this. The Wikipedia article has been overhauled and the klanbake aspect of things has been very much downplayed. Other links pretend that any association between the Convention and the Klan were made up out of whole cloth. I wonder how long it will be that the search on klanbake turns up nothing or, instead, comes up with links to Republicans.

When I first seen it, I just thought it was a modified grip. Almost all sabers have raised bumps to improve grip.

Oh good! The sooner everybody forgets everything about slavery, the better everything will be. Then we don’t have to talk about it anymore

LSU’S “Fighting Tigers” allegedly came from a Louisiana Regiment in the civil war. It was said they fought like tigers.
Last time some overly sensitive children told LSU the name had to change, LSU told them to go entertain themselves.
It helped that parents & alumni let their voices (and money) be heard!
