In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, there will sit [i.e., as bishop]. Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills [i.e. Rome] will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge[a] will judge his people. The End.

Found this;

On Monday morning, February 11th, 2013, the world awoke to the shocking news that the Pope Benedict XVI would resign his papacy on Feb. 28. Benedict is the first pope to resign from the papacy in almost 600 years. Pope Benedict said that his deteriorating health would no longer allow him to fulfill the demanding responsibilities of leading the Roman Catholic Church.

Adding to the drama of Benedict’s surprise announcement is a prophecy given in 1139 A.D. By a Catholic seer named St. Malachy. Malachy claimed, while visiting Rome, he experienced a vision indicated there would be a total of 112 pages from the time of the vision to the last one.

Here’s where the plot thickens, Pope Benedict was the 111th pope from St. Malachy. This means Pope Francis is #112! St. Malachy said that during the last papacy, God would judge his pope and City of Seven Hills (Rome) would be destroyed.

The Bible prophesies the destruction of Rome (the city of Seven Hills) in Revelation 17. The destruction will take place at the end of the Great Tribulation and right at the time of the Battle of Armageddon.

Furthermore, the Bible prophesied that the pope who is in office at this time of the Anti-Christ will form an alliance with him and will become the prophesied false prophet. It’s very interesting that many Catholic prophecy books teach there is an evil pope coming and that he will be the last pope.

We certainly cannot put the prophecy of St. Malachy on the same level as scripture. However, it seems that his prophecies are coordinating very closely to the prophecies of the Bible. One thing we do know is that we can have total trust in the scriptures!

Will the new pope, the 112th pope be the last pope? Will he be the false prophet and evil pope that the Catholic prophecy books speak about? Were you also aware that Vatican means: “Hill of the Fortune tellers an Soothsayers?” It’s all interesting isn’t it?

Two key points to remember for you fellow Christians; Jesus made the following proclamations regarding the end of the world:

Matthew 24:36 - But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Matthew 24:24 - For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

Point is that no one can predict the 2nd coming and those that do are false prophets.

I agree with you that the doomsdayers abound and are often rather nutty. But for believers the Bible does make it clear there will be a return of Christ and and “end” of this world as we know it anyway. Personally I’m inclined to believe the predictions of those who lived in old times. They were intelligent and held firm beliefs unlike the nutjobs of today who wait for their alien ships and such. Or the evangelists on TV who want you to send them money to “reach the masses” before it all ends in a blaze of fire.

Agreed. But Newton didn’t say a day or hour. Just a year and that it “could be later, but not ealier than 2060”. Fair enough?

"I just can’t help looking around at the world and wondering how much longer God will allow the pain and suffering."

Being an agnostic, I believe God threw out the Big Bang dice and has sat back all this time to watch how his experiment unfolds. When a tiny blue speck happened and develop sentient beings, he has also kept his hands off to see what happens.

Yes, I believe Jesus Christ existed and was an amazing example for humans to follow. No, I don't believe he was a son of entity that is beyond our imagination. Still, I try to follow his teaching because I have empathy, sympathy, and a moral sense of what is right for humankind.

I have tried many times through my life to believe Jesus is what the gospels say he is. I want to believe. Unfortunately, my logical mind can't accept the Bible because it was written my mortal men who believed the Earth was flat and much of it is supposition and speculation. The Old Testament is just fairy tales to me.

I understand and respect your beliefs. But Jesus was one of three things as described by C. S. Lewis:

Liar
Lunatic
Lord

So he couldn’t have been just a “good man”. He didn’t leave us another option besides His being Son of God.

> “G-d does not play dice with the Universe.” Einstein <

Now here’s the interesting thing. Einstein said that famous sentence to refute the new field of quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics is based on random probabilities, rolling the dice if you will.

Experiments later showed that the quantum mechanics model is correct. So maybe G-d really does play dice with the Universe!

“he was correct about gravity”

Well, that depends on whether you think Einstein was right or not.

I think in the context of Jesus' words, it also applies to generalizations. No one would have any idea of the year, month, day, or time. No one knows except the Father and anyone who says otherwise is false.

Now anyone can choose to accept this point or not, but for me, even guessing the year, decade, or century is wrong.

Doesn’t seem that bizarre if you’ve read much prophetic theorizing. Par for the course, I’d say.
