Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is preparing to announce the reopening of a slew of Michigan industries – including theaters, gyms, bowling centers and ice rinks – according to a report from the Detroit Free Press.
The announcement could come as soon as Wednesday and the reopening would happen after Labor Day, per the Free Press.

Leaders in Michigan’s bowling and gym industries have recently lightened up on the heat they’ve publicly put on the Whitmer administration.
The Michigan Fitness Club Association had planned a boot camp demonstration on the Capitol lawn on Tuesday, Sept. 1, but postponed it late Monday night. It will be “rescheduled and held as a celebration of fitness in Michigan once gyms are reopened,” per a press release from the group.
The Bowling Centers Association of Michigan also dropped its lawsuit against Whitmer, doing so in good faith with hopes of getting a meeting with the administration to explain how bowling centers can open safely.
“We hope to hear some good news rather shortly,” said Bo Goergen, BCAM executive director, last week.
Gyms have been a tricky industry, as health experts say they can potentially be spreading centers since people are breathing heavier and therefore expelling potential virus particles farther than 6 feet. Mask wearing is also tougher when working out.
“With high levels of heavy respiratory activity, shared indoor spaces and shared surfaces, it makes perfect sense that gyms would be one of the later businesses to come back online because of the inherent risk posed to employees and patrons,” the governor’s office said in a statement.

Yes, but now that teachers are refusing to return to classrooms (using the logic that if other indoor venues are unsafe then classrooms must be as well) everything will be OK...
Is Whitmer going to her lake home and riding around in the boat that her husband wanted launched before all other residents?
