If fact checkers say it is wrong, how would they know that?
Even if they started many of them, why would they admit to it?
There is nothing to gain, and a lot to risk. There are already a lot of people calling for them to be classified as a domestic terrorists.

That would mean that this man has just confessed to conspiracy to commit murder times 27, plus about a hundred other heavy felonies. These charges would include everyone involved in the planning the execution, and the coverup.
That should get a few of them a needle in their arms if they can outrun the bullets in the air.

Why wouldn’t they take credit for it, even if it’s false? It serves their purposes, either way. There are a lot of really pissed off people in Oregon, ready to take it to Antifa. It’s one thing to start little fires at the Federal Building in Portland. In the real Oregon, entire towns have been lost. If Antifa is even suspected, there may well be reprisals. More “right wing” violence for Kate Brown to work with.
