Gainesville city officials warned Friday that a northwest area sinkhole continues to grow and onlookers who try to get an up-close peek are taking a risk.

City officials advised looky loos to steer clear, and said they were installing a six-foot chain link fence around the sinkhole Friday to keep people off the property.

this looks like maybe same spot- but no large object in it- wonder of someone threw their garbage in the hole? Maybe it's not the same, but the bush and house look similar to hte one at the site:

Just east-northeast of Gainesville is a permanent and stabilized sinkhole, Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park, that is 120 ft / 37 m deep that was (non-Covid) accessible by a good staircase, 132 steps. An attraction since the 1880s, the first stairs were installed by the CCC (Civilian Construction Corps) in the 1930s. Descending one goes from a pine forrest ecosystem into a subtropical rain forrest.

South of this city is Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, a 21,000-acre (85 km2) low savanna, that is drained by a ‘permanent’ sinkhole and some modern canals. Back in the 1870-90s, when the sinkhole drainage was blocked, shallow draft steamboats did a profitable business on the Alachua Lake. When Hurricane Irma (2017) came through the lake returned for about a month.

Just posting this to keep those LEFTist from the blue places home, Florida is so dangerous that you could be sleeping in bed one moment and be 100’ buried the next. Stay home up north and be safe!

So naturally half the town is trying to get a look at it.

They should have said “Hey come on over and see the giant sinkhole! Bring a rope just in case because it’s constantly expanding and you never know. We have a “no rescue” policy!”

Looks like the Owner won’t have to pay anyone to dig the hole for his new SUPER GIGANTIC Pool.

A sinkhole in the northwest part of town has continued to grow since it was first discovered. It eventually consumed a swimming pool.

Hire a gator guard and a python guide...
Have fun...
