Police are looking for the man who fired a rifle on Metra’s McCormick Place platform and then fled from the station Tuesday morning.
The man stepped off of a northbound Metra Electric train at the station around 10:20 a.m. and placed a duffle bag on the platform, according to a spokesperson for the train system.
The gunman, who was alone on the platform, then took a rifle out of the bag and fired one round to the west, then put the weapon back into his bag and left the station, the spokesperson said.
Metra police “have no idea” what the man was shooting at, according to the spokesperson. No injuries were reported and investigators were still looking for the bullet at midday. A shell casing was found at the platform, however.

The shooter is reportedly a White man between 30- and 40-years-old who stands about 5’10” tall. He wore a black jacket with a navy-colored hoodie underneath and blue jeans. His bag was gray, according to the video, an officer said.
"Anybody that gets off at that stop, with less than 10 friends, is a fool. If you've ever driven down "Daley's secret road", you know just where it is. It's dark and isolated. No one would ever find you if someone wanted to get rid of you."
testing multiple things
Yeah, OK. Some blog. A free blog maybe from some homeless bum
at the library coming down off a couple hits of crack. Yeah.
Yep.
This in Chicago?
Maybe drawing the cops away from something else that was going down at or soon after that time?
Like clockwork here posts humblegunner acting like a toady of corporate media.
secondcitycop.blogspot.com is a fun read and exposes the real dirt on Chicago policing and politics. Click on it for humblegunner.
Humblegunner is is basically a bot at this point. For years, he has been an excellent argument for FR to have a “block” function for certain posters. His cant is hyper-tedious.
Yeah, I toad for those guys, they pay like 400K a year.
I live on cruise ships and bathe in Champagne with high-end hookers.
In the meantime, this blog can't manage to pay twelve bucks
a year to get a private host. So yeah, nah, I'm totally winning this.
I worked at 350 Carmack in the complex and used the stop as off the south shore/metra as a flag stop. It is so empty besides the once a year car show and taste of chicago, you have to arrange for the train to let you off there. you are below the basement of the new side of McCormick Place. It is 2000 feet either way from the platform until you see daylight. Its nearly 3000 more feet to the 11th street platform to the north. It is a good way to get a ton of police moving but the only thing to shoot at is concreate, bats, rats and trains. Quite likely the most isolate place except for the stairway to a convention center that has been empty for 9 months. The lake side patio off the east halls is a hidden gem.
That was me.
Just practicing for New Year’s Eve.
Actually, it`s a by and for Chicago cop forum. Check the comments if your tender ears can take it.
He was checking his zero before opening day.
Mass shootings haven’t been the same since ammo got expensive.
It means that the "author" can't or won't manage 12 bucks a year.
Basically the equivalent of scratching profanities on the dumpster
out back of the chicken place. Super credible, quite prestigious.
Yep, sure is.
Me thinks H.G. may be in for a little time out poo!😎
“Quite likely the most isolate place except for the stairway to a convention center that has been empty for 9 months. “
No one is having conventions there anymore because...well, Chicago. Total union/politician ripoff...$150 for some IBEW union jagoff to plug in something. Not to mention a crime rate off the charts, a prosecutor who doesn’t prosecute and the world’s fugliest mayor.
Bro, I’ve watched your posts off and on for years - I’ve never known you to be a total troll. However, your posting behavior as of late has led me to reassess my opinion of you (and yes, everyone has one). Is there something amiss in your personal life that has drawn out a considerablly more acerbic element of your personality? Asking for a friend ...
