From the comments... Pretty sure it’s a classic case of suicide due to remorse for robbing somebody. There’s no point in wasting valuable resources to investigate this case.

An unidentified gunman who shot and wounded a man during an attempted robbery in the Goose Island neighborhood Sunday morning was himself shot and killed moments later, Chicago police said. These kinds of unfortunate incidents really give Chicago a black eye.

It remains unclear who shot the suspected gunman, who remained unidentified Sunday. Authorities said he didn’t appear to have a prior criminal history with Chicago police.Who the hell in the PD is responsible for making statements like this?

Wouldn’t this mean the dead robber had no ID and his prints aren’t on file?

Or the supposed robbery victim was the robber, who shot the second man to death but was wounded during the incident.

The first paragraph was unclear about who was shot. But later in the story it turns out the perp was sent on to his reward.

Is that an improvement?
And do you need to capitalize the ‘B’ in black eye?

With that being said, who really cares if the dead carcass has any ID or not........

Reminds me of my favorite story. An old lady exited a grocery store in East Detroit about 30 years ago. Young knuckledragger decides to snatch her purse. The old lady had a strong hold on her purse and was fighting the knuckledragger. As the news story put it, an older gentleman in an old non-descript Buick stopped his car, got out, pulled a small revolver from his pocket and fired a single shot into the knuckledraggers knee. Without a word, he got back in his car and drove away. The old lady liked up her stuff and left. When the police arrived, they found the knuckledragger holding a bloody kneecap.
Judging by the location, action and description of the car, I’m 100% certain the shooter was the father of an old friend of mine.
