California medical staff gave COVID-19 vaccines to their RELATIVES instead of healthcare workers after at least two hospitals were left with 'extra' doses

At least two hospitals in Southern California have been found to be vaccinating the relatives of employees working at the facilities, instead of those in the priority groups including the elderly.

Redlands Community Hospital in Culver City say they found themselves with 'extra' doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and so reached out to people who didn't work at the medical center.

The hospital claim that the vaccine doses would have otherwise expired and insist that all first-responders working at the 420-bed facility were treated first.

A relative who works at Southern California Hospital, but did not want to be identified, also said that family members were invited to receive Pfizer vaccines.

'The hospital had planned on vaccinating all of their employees, but a large number of their staff declined and they were sitting on a lot of thawed vaccines,' the woman said to the Orange County Register.

'They offered police officers, firefighters and first-responders to get vaccinated and also told employees they could invite four family members.'

She will return to the hospital in a few weeks time to receive a second dose of the vaccine. ...

just to pull the only data out of this article, "As of New Year's Day, 3.17million doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been administered. That is just 25 per cent of the 12.4million doses that have been delivered to states"

It's not known if the above includes claudestine vaccines to relatives of the chosen

What’s the point of having power if you can’t use it to benefit your own family? Who doesn’t know this? The Left certainly does.

“but a large number of their staff declined and they were sitting on a lot of thawed vaccines”

So they reached out to cops, firefighters and first responders as well as family members of staff.

I see nothing wrong with this. You won’t have any nurses or doctors in the hospital if they are home caring for sick family members.

Some journalist is a whiny butthurt wokester.

I don't have a problem with it either. The vaccine rollout is going far slower than it should because they're insisting upon vaccinating only the target group. Sure, prioritize the elderly and hospital workers but if you have vaccine sitting around and none of the priority groups to take it then don't just let it sit, find someone that wants it and get it in their arm.

Any place that gets a shipment of vaccine should be administering all of it before the day is out. The plants are running, they'll make more. It's stupid to store this stuff waiting for people that might never show up to take it while you have others that want it. We're only going to get ahead of this virus by vaccinating large numbers of people, get to it.

For a scarce resource, why didn’t they find out how many employees wanted it instead of assuming they would vaccinate 100%?

Same here. If the people for whom the vaccines were intended refused them, and they’d have gone bad otherwise, nothing wrong with getting avalaible family members vaccinated

“why didn’t they find out how many employees wanted it instead of assuming they would vaccinate 100%?”

Probably because Human Resources was running it. Also betting the staff that refused were mostly non-medical support staff and not the Drs and RNs.

the cops, firefighters, etc. all have their own scheduled dates and shipped lots for their double jabs. The ‘up to 4 family members’ would imply that youngsters would be offered the vaccine, unless we’re talking in-laws, which would be younger (40s-50s), given the age grouping of most hospital workers.

Since they have a few days to innoculate, (5-days, more than enough time for HR to have a signup/optout sheet for the inhouse staff) a more appropriate action might have been to contact the community senior centers and/or soup kitchen and organize a jab for seniors for the extra doses.

The other problem is bookkeeping. If they’re assigned x number of doses for round one, and they use y doses only for hospital employees, will the second jab round shipment be for x or for y? (enough for a second jab for the relatives?)

How is civilian innoculation tracked if the doses are hidden in a ‘non-medical relatives’ column?

How many ‘extra doses’ are created down the line by someone jumping line, then in their own category, they don’t need it, so more extra (to be disbursed arbitrarily). Rinse and repeat. Not good.

notice how they did not mention the age of the family members. I am betting that the ones that got the vax were either elderly or had some health issues that made them vulnerable. this is me just being hopeful when looking at what happen....there better not be a family member who is a 16 year old sports fanatic and future Olympic champion with no health issue’s getting the extra vax shot.

I see this rollout as a massive reverse psychology operation; many people have concerns about the rushed vaccines and don’t want to be among the early recipients.

When blacks appeared reluctant to get them, a few blactivists were put on stage to say older whites shouldn’t get them due to “privilege” blah blah blah - and I can only assume this was to get blacks to line up with everyone else.

I'll go out on a limb and predict that a lot of these vaccines, in various Dem-run states/cities, will be ruined & have to be thrown out...especially the vaccines that need deep freezing.

Anybody remember the hundreds of school buses that were flooded and sat useless as New Orleans (The Chocolate City) scrambled to evacuate its citizens during Hurricane Katrina?

There is a really short shelf life on Pfizer’s drug after it is thawed out.

Use it or throw it away.

Health care workers’s families are in constant exposure when their loved ones come home from hospitals treating Covid patients.

window is 5 days from what I’ve read, as long it’s kept in the pharmacy freezer. IF there are 50% declines by med staff on the first jab day, that leaves 2 or 3 days to coordinate a jab day for people who are next in line. Specifically - seniors and those severely physically handicapped - the most at risk.

California has had 11 months of treating covid, but there are no reports of inordinate numbers of medical worker families catching covid from a medical worker. Nothing has changed other than the appearance of a vaccine. Creating a situation reminisent of the video of the Chinese tourists at the casino shrimp bar using plates to scoop up as many shrimp as possible, more than they could ever eat in one sitting, but to keep others from having them.

Maybe, all is not what it seems?

“Maybe, all is not what it seems?”

That is the only true reality of Covid 19 since, 13 March last year.

Then, we went into our Covid insanity trip guided by politicians and our mediots, feeding us Covid 19 B$, 24/7.

Many of us identified the “racism” of Covid 19, how blacks and Latinos have a higher % of their groups getting Covid 19 and often a more serious and fatal response to their Covid Venture.

The monthly and weekly CDC data proves that racism reality each week or month when CDC’s data is released and often with local data in California.

Elite dems, when in control don’t nor need reality for their decisions that impact our everyday lives.

They know better than the reality/data, and what we try to tell them.

Now, they label their arrogance as the Science!
