Google controls what the vast majority of the world finds on the internet. Being put at the top of the Google results for search is not only immensely lucrative, it is also almost mind-bogglingly powerful in global affairs.
Since 2016, according to multiple reports, Google’s algorithm has been increasingly manipulated to bury and elevate specific information, especially politically charged information. This appears to have strong effects on what people believe and therefore how they vote and respond to polls that inform what politicians do with their power.
A 2018 Wall Street Journal investigation concluded, “The internet giant uses blacklists, algorithm tweaks and an army of contractors to shape what you see.” It reported, among other things:
More than 100 interviews and the Journal’s own testing of Google’s search results reveal:
I mostly kicked Google to the curb 3-1/2 years ago after the James Damore incident.
While I am generally not a fan of Reddit, don’t go there much, there are some useful subreddits. Here’s one on this topic:

You need to block Google Analytics too. Google makes a lot of money with their Analytics. Google offers analytics services for free to all web sites. About 99% of all major websites uses Google Analytics.
When you land on a page of a website that uses analytics your browser loads urchin.js from google analytics. You can find this in your the page source code.
Example on Free Republic you can find this script loaded at the bottom of the page. In Edge and other browser right click view source then search for urchin.js. Look at the source code for a couple of the main sites you visit, you will be surprise.
Google can track your movements on the Web from Web Site to Web site using the urchin.js script. They collect your IP Address, Location, browser fingerprint and other stuff.
When you visit Free Republic then visit Fox News then some other website like a social media, Google will collect enough info to identify you in day or two.
Did you know this info about you is available for the right price?
A little while ago I searched on that engine for a Joe biden video. Several videos came up but when I clicked on one I got a message that google owns youtube and if I proceeded I would be “tracked”. I went back to google and did the same search and NONE of the video thumbnails I saw before displayed. Certainly censoring is going on.
‘Tracking’ is more disturbing than censoring, to me..........................
Just out of curiosity, I clicked on the link you provided for Google Analytics. I get a page indicating that uBlock Origin prevents the page from loading. Is that sufficient protection, or are there additional steps that should be taken?
Worked for me!
I come from the time of Funk and Wagnall’s.
I do not use my computer to bolster my political beliefs.
I do use it in esoteric research, as well as certain youtube channels, because i live in a back-swamp town.

I use Duck Duck go.
If it is prevented loading at the browser it should be block. That is good. I have a blocker on my browser also.
You still don’t get a lot of Youtube searches (as one example) on DuckDuckgo, and Google does have conservative results as well. It is a mixed bag.
I recently moved from Brave to Dissenter. That’s the Gab browser based on Brave. It gives a little more privacy.
Add Ghostery to your browser and block Analytics and most other trackers as well. Free.
