Georgia state GOP lawmaker introduces bill requiring two copies of ID to vote absentee

A Georgia Republican is introducing a bill requiring voters to send copies of their photo ID to election officials two times before being permitted to cast an absentee ballot.

The legislation would also implement a photo ID requirement for voters sending in absentee ballots from outside the state, requiring them to submit proof of identification when applying for the ballot and when returning it.

Acceptable forms of ID would include a photocopy of the voter’s driver’s license, voter ID card, U.S. passport, government employee ID, military ID card or tribal identification card.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, all Republicans, have backed implementing stricter voter ID laws. All three have been panned by Trump’s base for their refusal to block certification of the election results.

Republicans have long claimed that tough voter ID measures are necessary to tamp down on voter fraud, even though instances of such fraud are rare, but Democrats have said that such measures mostly inhibit voters of color and low-income voters from casting ballots.

“By requiring access to a printer, which many Georgians obviously do not have, Republicans are attempting to purposely take away the ability of many Georgians to vote by mail simply because they believe too many Democrats and too many people of color voted by mail,” Fair Fight spokesperson Seth Bringman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which first reported the bill’s introduction.

In other words, Bringman admits people of color have very little inspiration to vote, so they are much more susceptible to voter fraud and ballot harvesting.

No. They have been panned for their refusal to allow inspection of the ballots, not for blocking certification.

Where were the lawmakers when the Secretary of State unilaterally changed election laws? They sat back and were scared to dissent.

40 years of Consent Decree has taken the backbone out of the GOP and they like it that way.

I love GA and most of the people but the GA government is a complete disgrace. The a-hole GOP handed the state to the DNC.

Willing to bet these "people of color" have ID. If they're getting any welfare, social security disability, etc...they have ID.

Fair Fight is afraid the lid is about the blow.

Still praying for this to happen even if it means being a miracle;
REVIEW THOSE GEORGIA SENATE ELECTION RESULTS

There were a series of fraudulent voting charges here. Were they enforced and corrected before this election took place ? If they weren’t is not a review called for ?
If the Georgia Secretary of State is in charge of voting he has the responsibility of enforcing the state’s regulations as to who votes. And eliminate those from voter lists who don’t qualify.

Assign prosecutors to personally canvass and investigate. Check if military actually voted by asking them. Identify all voters by checking on legal age their residency and citizenship. If found they do not qualify charge Illegals including state visitors known as snowbirds also include any technical computer fraudulent Italian programming testimony when presenting to the court and get these election results tossed.

If they fix this up, it’s possible that what happened in 2020 was an aberration. For what it’s worth, Obama won in North Carolina in 2008. That was the only time a Democrat has won the Tar Heel State since 1976 despite it being a “battleground” state.

Fair Fight Action is an organization founded in 2018 by Stacey Abrams to address voter suppression, especially in the states of Georgia and Texas.

Should be the primary motivation of 2022.

demp and faffelsbonehead rolled over and paved the way for the dims to win because they're afraid of her and any negative press.

That'll fix it.

What will stop them from ignoring, or making wholesale changes to this law at the 11th. hour in 2022?

They had 19 24/7 ballot drop boxes that weren’t monitored all the time, because of covid. If you have a mail-in ballot election, they’ll still find enough ballots to overturn it for the Democrats.

"Acceptable forms of ID would include a photocopy of the voter’s driver’s license, voter ID card, U.S. passport, government employee ID, military ID card or tribal identification card. "

I would have a problem with this. Post office cannot be trusted and who knows who gets to see your ID.

I think everyone should get a voter ID card. One bright side to this would be that "they" would know how many alive people exist to vote.

So now the gov and SOS want to crack down on fraud. Only because they are up for re-election in 2022.

Neither one will get my vote.
