Gina Carano is “not currently employed by Lucasfilm,” the company said in a statement Wednesday after controversy erupted over “The Mandalorian” star’s social media posts.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Carano shared several offensive posts on her Instagram stories Tuesday night, including one that likened contemporary political differences to the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany.
“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children,” Carano wrote Instagram. “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.” The post originated on a different Instagram account.
In another post, Carano shared a photo of a person wearing multiple cloth masks with the caption, “Meanwhile in California…”
Both posts were gone from Carano’s Instagram by mid-day Wednesday. Other posts, including one in which Carano wrote “Jeff Epstein didn’t kill himself,” remained.
The hashtag #FireGinaCarano began circulating on Twitter Wednesday in response to her posts. Many users tagged Lucasfilm and corporate parent Disney in their posts.
Carano is no stranger to controversy on social media. In November she was criticized for mocking people who specify preferred pronouns when she updated her Twitter bio with “beep/bop/boop,” which she later removed.
In December, Lucasfilm announced “Rangers of the New Republic,” a direct spinoff of “The Mandalorian” that seemed to suggest a path for her character Cara Dune, a former Rebel trooper who had become a Marshall for the New Republic on the show. Lucasfilm has not yet announced a cast for the new show, however.

Looks like I won’t be tuning into Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Unfortunately, I prepaid for multiple years of Disney+ when they had a pre-launch sale, so I can’t really boycott the service financially for a few years, but no more getting Mandalorian merchandise for gifts for me.
Sounds like I like Gina Carano - even though I don’t know who she is. Her posts were dead on, and I guess self-prophetic of her upcoming ‘persecution’ (mild now - as only her livelihood and career are attacked - but as she implied - who knows where it ends?).

This is utterly despicable. I saw the re-Tweet regarding how the Nazis got the German civilians to hate the Jews to smooth the way for the Holocaust. 100% historically-accurate.

Agreed. We are funding these people. Cut disneyplus, cut espn plus. Minimize entertainment spending. I’ve cut Netflix for months at a time and then catch up for a couple months of service.
Personally, I will not completely eliminate mainstream entertainment but I am trying to make a minimal spend as possible. Politics slid downstream of culture so we cannot isolate completely but too many of us are finding our own downfall.
Carano is cool. She really can fight and she is a beauty! Too bad the cancel culture gets her. I am glad I never bought Disney+, but I knew Disney hasn’t been good since Walt was there.

I agree 100% but, if Freerepublic is an example of the average Conservative they will give you a whole host of reasons why they cannot stop buying X,Y,Z, from A,B,C,...company or corporation. When examining the reasons as a whole it primarily boils down to the fact it’s just too inconvenient. And, we wonder why we are as a group so damned ineffective. 75+ MILLION we can’t be bothered “Conservatives”.

My son-in-law put on the Mandalorian on my TV, and I thought it was awful, and I asked him how he could watch that junk. I also told him that it was a Disney production and that Disney is part of he evil left. He stopped watching the junk, but has kept Disney+ for his 8 year old daughters, who are not into the politics of it all.
In any case, at my home, we don’t watch ABC or Disney+ and haven’t been to any Disney park for more than 5 years.
Disney people can try to do unto us, but it works both ways.
What I just read about her posts, she seems to be a truthteller and the truth is offensive to the Oligarchs.
But this reveals the thought control the media entertainment complex has over its stable of ‘stars’. If you are in their sphere and you don’t have the correct thoughts, you ain’t working in their town no mo.
Gina Carano will spring back up in hopefully a new media industry that carries traditional American values.
Glad I have a line on DVDs for this show.
