Malcolm X’s boyhood home in Boston was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The 2½-story house is the only surviving residence associated with the slain civil rights leader’s formative years in the city, according to Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin, who chairs the state historical commission that requested the designation.
The home, which was originally built in 1874 and designated a city landmark in 1998, was officially listed on the federal register last month, the National Park Service that oversees the listing said this week.
The former Malcolm Little was a teenager in the 1940s when he came to live with his sister, Ella Little Collins.
Rodnell Collins, Little Collins’ son, said this week that the family, which still owns the home, is hoping to turn it into a residence for graduate students studying (b)lack history and civil rights, as well as open it up for special events and public tours at certain times of the year. …

Suppose you are a white student studying black history and civil rights. Will you be allowed to stay there, or will they discriminate based on race????
Towards the end of his life he rejected the racism of the Nation of Islam he had joined and he was murdered for it.
Having said that, if I had been born black in the time and place he was I probably would have hated white people too, so I couldn’t really condemn him for what he thought of white people for most of his life.
The house is NOT in Boston, it’s in Roxbury which is a whole different ballgame. Back in the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, Roxbury was ‘the’ place to live, then it was taken over by people who didn’t appreciate decent living and turned it into a pit, which it still is today....I used to live there so I speak from experience. I lived in a decent neighborhood and one nite my father and I were sitting out on the stoop, next thing we knew there were gun shots ringing out from across the street, my father threw me and him on the ground next to the brick stairs he built, next we knew people were running up and down the street.
My mother and I went back to see the old neighborhood about 20 years ago...the beautiful stairs my father labored over were now painted over with white paint, my father probably rolled over in his grave multiple times, he babied those stairs, the neighborhood at the time we visited was all hispanic, all of a sudden a cop pulls up behind us, we were sitting across the street from the old house, cop asks what we were doing, I explain we used to live over there and are just reminiscing and looking at all the changes, he said he got a call for a ‘suspicious car with suspicious looking people”....SMH.
I grew up there back in the 50's, 60's, my mother and I went back about 20 years ago, couldn't believe how bad it had gotten......"nubian square"....seriously.....SMH.

X man was probably murdered partly for speaking this truth.
I remember the days when the bros would where the X hats and I would just LMFAO inside.
