A user in a low level hacking forum has published the phone numbers and personal data of hundreds of millions of Facebook users for free online.
The exposed data includes personal information of over 533 million Facebook users from 106 countries, including over 32 million records on users in the US, 11 million on users in the UK, and 6 million on users in India. It includes their phone numbers, Facebook IDs, full names, locations, birthdates, bios, and — in some cases — email addresses.
Insider reviewed a sample of the leaked data and verified several records by matching known Facebook users' phone numbers with the IDs listed in the data set. We also verified records by testing email addresses from the data set in Facebook's password reset feature, which can be used to partially reveal a user's phone number.

I wonder what Facebook's fact checkers will say about this? I wonder if these 533 million people can sue Facebook for this security breach?

All of the “bad guys” already have all of that info, so what’s the point?

I very much miss the casual everyday updates from beloved family and friends but deleted my account early last year.
I hope in time.

Sure glad I'm not one of the 'select' 553,000,000.

Facebook is a perfect example of socialism: You get it for free but the quality sucks. You have no say in how it works. The guy who runs it gets rich. There's no real competition. You have no privacy. And if you say one thing they don't like they'll shut you up. |

About once a week my wife gets “chided” for not using Facebook.
This is another reason, she will text and not use FB and say no to those chiding her for not using FB.
She texts/emails our DNA pools and good friends while enjoying her coffee in bed, every morning.
