George Bush has quite the gift for timing.
Just as Democrats whip up riots, threaten juries, plot to pack the Supreme Court, beaver away to end the filibuster, force critical race theory down schoolchildren's throats, open the border to a cartel profit bonanza and untold migrant misery, out he comes, loudly criticizing his own party.
According to Politico:
Former President George W. Bush described the modern-day GOP as “isolationist, protectionist, and to a certain extent, nativist” in an interview Tuesday that was packed with implicit criticism of the most recent Republican president.
“It’s not exactly my vision” for the party, Bush told NBC’s “Today” show in a rare live TV appearance. “But, you know, I’m just an old guy they put out to pasture.”
He also threw in this:
As for the Jan. 6 insurrection perpetrated by supporters of former President Donald Trump, “it did make me sick. I felt ill. And I just couldn’t believe it,” Bush said.
“What’s really troubling is how much misinformation there is and the capacity of people to spread all kinds of untruth,” he added. “And I don’t know what we’re going to do about that.”
Well, leftists do. They're censoring conservative thinking of all stripes on social media and creating a cancel culture that makes any American with a viewpoint different from the wokesters into pariahs, silencing them, keeping them out of schools and jobs, cutting off their access to e-commerce, expelling them from retail contracts, tearing down statues, rewriting history to their leftist specifications, imitating Mao Zedong on brainwashing and re-education, an ddoing all possible to make the idea of free speech and open debate a sorry joke.

The ‘RAT tricks worked on Bush too. No great surprise.
Good ol warmongering Dubya. Thinks our country is better off going trillions into debt, risking our young soldiers’ lives policing the world so he and his buddies can get rich.
You are seeing the real Bush family now; the father told John Podhoretz when he lost the election that he didn’t want “any of that right wing junk” in his farewell speech. GW has proven to be a stupid warmonger, a draft dodger, cokehead, drunk born on third base who thought he hit a triple. You never hear this boob criticize anyone in the other party - he and his ilk know that if they unload on the real Rs and Trump in return they can get good press, the hiring of family members by the Deep State, and they will pass over the continuing disasters caused by his crackpot foreign policies.
The Bush Family is one of the main reasons I am no longer a Republican. George W. Bush is the biggest reason I am no longer a Republican.
If we’re honest, we’ll admit that no one thinks GW is very bright.
He, undoubtably believes everything the so-called “Press” tells him, just as a lot of people do.
His assessment of what is “disinformation” makes him sound like a flat-earther.
I’m so glad that Bush enlightened me. He’s made me make the decision to never vote again. My trust has been broken to many times.
And to think that I voted for the son of a bitch two times. I am truly sorry. Please forgive me.
He was the best the GOP had to offer in 2000, unfortunately. Maybe a slight improvement over algore. But a still complete moron, somehow smarter than brother Yeb..
“isolationist, protectionist, and to a certain extent, nativist”
Nice scare words. It would be fun to hear him try to define any of those, then explain how they relate to the modern GOP. As a bonus, he could explain why they are wrong. Surely, an Ivy League intellect like President Bush would have no problem. Lol
I wish I could recover my post about meeting W in July 1999 during his NH primary campaign.
Then I could say, “told you so”.
Because some of them backed Trump they are now being scolded. Trump policy worked. No major attack and was starting to pull out of a Afghan war you started bush.
Bush is Uniparty, and the populists scare the poop out of both branches of the Uniparty. Bush is absolutely not from the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower.
I wish I voted for Ann Richards over Dumbya so he never would have been Governor, and thus, President.
I think that, looking back on it, HW was a Deep State plant into the Populist Reagan Presidency. The GOP alternatives since Reagan have all been DS, even when they were supposed to lose.
There have been no real elections in this country for a long time, the only one being Trump, who won through campaigning.
Did you vote for Gore?
What did he have to say about the BLM riots last summer? Oh, right: nothing
