U.S. Navy SEAL and author of Lone Survivor was challenged to a shoot off by a civilian during SHOT SHOW in Las Vegas while promoting Team Never Quit ammo and products.
Judging from the video title we were expecting an embarrassment but to our surprise, the civilian won. They both had a practice shot with an Axelson Tactical 5.56 SPR Combat Series rifle before the qualifying shot and Luttrell’s shot was the furthest from the target. Luttrell took his defeat like a champ and they guy walked away with a fond memory.
Now let’s try that under enemy fire, guy.

I wonder if the civilian can pass BUDs...
During a boy scout trip to Fort Hood, our troop did the M4 simulator and the guy running the simulator looks at the results and says he’d never seen anyone shoot that good, who was it?
Quiet introvert 14 year old that was the “chaplain” for the troop. Why the “race war” will never come to the suburbs.
I didn’t click/read the article and don’t know the guy or his public reaction.
But if it was me, I’d be honored to be in Luttrell’s presence and, as opposed to what was obviously some sponsored event, I’d pull him aside, have a confab, and engage him in a friendly game of 5 card stud at 2000 yards.
Yeah, ‘try that under fire’ indeed.
He’s still a badass.
Retired SEAL Don Shipley just put out a YouTube video where he and Luttrell went after a phony SEAL wannabe.
Axleson Tactical gun shop is about a half hour south of our place. I need to get down there for a visit.
Nobody should click on the link. There is no more text - just a video and annoying text-blocking ads (yes, I know everybody has super-cyber-condoms. Spare me the details).
The U.S. is full of hunters and shooters who can engage a target. Combat is more than that, as most hunters and shooters will admit.
a lot of little girls and old ladys have kicked my ass on the range, lesson? don’t give girls guns...
“Luttrell’s shot was the furthest”?
Weren’t their only two shots?
It’s a 2 part video:

I cried when Dirty Harry lost out to that motor cop
That’s like a video gamer thinking he is ready for air combat.
Yes, and like hunting and engaging a target, combat skills can be taught. And, it doesn't take a SEAL to learn them.
Marcus is a warrior, not a marksman.
Thank goodness, because I don’t care for diving.
Been there, done that.
Maybe just a fluke of the wind...
That was intentional I thought. A message of irony, shooting a good guy, and a strategy to get a bullet from David Soul’s gun
“Now let’s try that under enemy fire, guy.”
Even during tactical ftx, the adrenaline rushs.
