I wonder if the civilian can pass BUDs...
During a boy scout trip to Fort Hood, our troop did the M4 simulator and the guy running the simulator looks at the results and says he’d never seen anyone shoot that good, who was it?
Quiet introvert 14 year old that was the “chaplain” for the troop. Why the “race war” will never come to the suburbs.
I didn’t click/read the article and don’t know the guy or his public reaction.
But if it was me, I’d be honored to be in Luttrell’s presence and, as opposed to what was obviously some sponsored event, I’d pull him aside, have a confab, and engage him in a friendly game of 5 card stud at 2000 yards.
Yeah, ‘try that under fire’ indeed.
He’s still a badass.
Retired SEAL Don Shipley just put out a YouTube video where he and Luttrell went after a phony SEAL wannabe.
Axleson Tactical gun shop is about a half hour south of our place. I need to get down there for a visit.
“Luttrell’s shot was the furthest”?
Weren’t their only two shots?
I cried when Dirty Harry lost out to that motor cop
That’s like a video gamer thinking he is ready for air combat.
Marcus is a warrior, not a marksman.
Been there, done that.
Maybe just a fluke of the wind...
“Now let’s try that under enemy fire, guy.”
Even during tactical ftx, the adrenaline rushs.
5.56mm
This shouldn’t be that surprising, and it’s no disgrace to the Navy Seal. There are lots of good amateurs in many areas. there are probably a lot of unknown karaoke singers who can sing as well or better than famous stars.
Two shots, from static firing positions, no time pressure, hardly a contest.
Marcus Luttrell - a humble man of Honor and distinction. One I admire and pray for.
Meaningless.
The best shooting “I” have ever done was at the Red Castle Gun Club 28 years ago. Before witnesses I put three shots in one hole from a prone position using an International Harvester M-1 Garand! THREE SHOTS!
Unfortunately it was the “sight in” phase of a rifle shoot and did not count.
I have NEVER been able to do it again. Bummer.
There are SEALS trained to be sharpshooters. We know one. He is also qualified to do surgery out in the wild. His sharpshooting skills saved his team and got him the Medal of Valor.
So Lutrell isn’t a sniper. He still did stuff that only a few can do.
My money is still on Marcus in a firefight when the rounds are buzzing past your head like wasps.
