Armed citizens fire on rioters in Durban, South Africa. The police are unable to stop the rioting and looting or protect anyone so the people have to protect themselves.
Several videos posted at the link. Police nowhere to be seen.

There is something else in play. South Africa has their own issues with illegal immigrants, as it is still by far the strongest economy in Africa. There have been riots against illegals for years there. But the media rarely covers it.

I think Mandela was more or less able to keep the tribes from fighting each other. Just as Tito kept the Croats, Bosniaks and Serbs from fighting each other, usually through means of terror and intimidation.
South Africa is like Chicago or NY City, in that the ANC candidate will always get elected, so its always an intra-party struggle to see who leads, and often its only the choice between the bizarre, perverted, corrupt marxist, or the slightly less corrupt machine-politician socialist.
Add to that they belong to different tribes too.
