You know, I think that most doctors don’t really care. They are stretched so thin and have so many patients that they just get you in and get you out as quickly as possible. I’m getting more information here than I got from my Emergency Room and Hearing doctor at the time of my incident. Appreciate this thread immensely.

I started experiencing pulsatile tinnitus about 10 years ago. It freaked me out at first as I feared it was cancer or a blood vessel that was about to burst. After blood tests, MRI, MRA, ultrasound of the carotid artery, etc., my ENT ruled out any underlying health issues but said there was basically no treatment. Fortunately, the condition improved on its own to the point where about once every several months I will hear the pulsations for a few seconds. Sorry I can’t offer any practical advice and hope you find a solution to your condition.

Can’t hurt anything to try, and it is free. It helped me and got rid of both symptoms. I had to repeat those exercises for a couple times a day for several days, but it finally actually cured it for good about five years ago now.

I have a theory that I made a freak sequence of rolling over in bed during sleep that caused it. May have been similar with your ordeal. You may have knocked the rocks in your head around. (Joke... I have them too) lol :)

Please update me if it helps! :)

I just listen to music that’s louder than my tinnitus.

It got so bad he committed suicide.

Chalk it up to CoVID spike damage? If it can affect nerves, like palsy, then it's likely able to damage (clot) filament blood vessels servicing the fine sensors, like balance and hearing.

You can't just point to a autopsy when you need one these days ...

Interesting.

Part of my past experience included audio engineering pertaining to hi-fidelity project design.

One day I decided to take my db meter with me in my van and measured the noise level at my left ear (I had concerns) while driving at freeway speeds.

To state that I was stunned is an understatement, but it was expected nonetheless:

The noise level exceeded 110 decibels (I can’t recall the exact number, but it would vary with vehicle type regardless).

Thankfully a later hearing test detected no noticeable hearing loss in my left ear, though before my health recovery the tinnitus which manifested every number of days-to-weeks was weighted to...my left ear.

It is now largely gone, the number of incidents being merely 1 since the start of the ‘virus crisis’. Oddly, the tinnitus I experience now seems to affect both sides equally but, again, hardly once/year (if even).

It could be stress related, but you are lucky that it comes up only every so often per year. Maybe the stress of the COVID pandemic had an effect. Mine is definitely related to stress.

Can’t argue with that...in consideration of my anger cycles over the last few years. In the current climate, I can do no more than minimize the stress.

Still, stress was not a factor preceding my health recovery, and if it was a strong factor afterwards, I’d be experiencing it weekly these days.

It’s one of those symptoms I describe as ‘synergistic’ and multifaceted. In consideration of prior hearing damage (likely), I cannot complain about my very, very, intermittent and fleeting symptom.

Frankly, it’s a reminder to wear my damned hearing protection even when running the table saw or die grinder.

That’s kinda good to know! Doctors never told me, but I suspect you’re right.

white noise player at night.

I command my Amazon Echo to play “white noise”...that does the trick to mask it.
