I once saved a man’s life against his wishes. Refusals to get the COVID-19 vaccine reveal the costs of stressing patient autonomy
Fayetteville Observer via MSN ^ | October 10, 2021 | Corey Franklin

...For at least 50 years, autonomy — the patient’s right to determine his or her own care — has been stressed by both the medical and lay communities as the paramount value in medicine. Self-determination is embedded in the American ethos and has a long tradition in American medicine, dating to a 1914 medical negligence case. Autonomy, often restated as “my body, my decision,” is the bedrock principle behind medical issues including abortion, physician-assisted death and informed consent to treatment...

...

While most patients appreciate the emphasis on self-determination, some long for the “good old days” when doctors made the decisions for patients....on the whole, neither medical professionals nor patients would prefer going back to the “good old days.”

However, now the medical community..consensus... declares that essentially all eligible Americans should be vaccinated against COVID-19. Mandated universal vaccination would certainly cut the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths dramatically. Why not take that step?

...

...one argument many people use as part of their refusal to be vaccinated is “my body, my choice,” the very principle of autonomy doctors and health care professionals have long prioritized as the cardinal virtue of medicine.

In a sense, the chickens have come home to roost. With nearly 700,000 U.S. deaths officially attributable to COVID-19, it can rightly be considered a public health emergency. In this case, autonomy might be subordinated to the greater good of the public; thousands of lives would be saved if the utilitarian argument prevailed.

But how can physicians expect everyone to turn on a dime when for decades the medical community has been hammering home the preeminence of autonomy? Only now are we realizing that the price of that message was much higher than we thought.

I believe this is the 1914 case:

Instead of an eye for an eye I recommend a shot for a shot. Or more, if necessary.

Mr. X getting vaccinated doesn’t ensure Mr. Y is safe.

If Mr. Y wants to be safe, he needs to get vaccinated, get tested to see if the vaccination took, and if not, try another vaccine, get tested again, etc. If no vaccination works for Mr. Y, Mr. Y has to physically safeguard himself.

Mr. Y’s health is Mr. Y’s concern, not Mr. X’s, unless Mr. X works in healthcare and Mr. Y might be his patient.

Many leftists want to makes somebody else’s problem my problem.

I do not wish to have such a problem with such leftists.

The author lies about how many died from Covid.

That one huge lie invalidates everything else he says.

those deaths were greatly ncreased due to numerous democrat governors targeting old people for death by housing covid patients in assisted living facilities

thet wanted the numbers to go up to make this worse than it would have been

so they targeted the always-weakest demographic, the elderly, for the group they’d sacrifice to get the death numbers artificially higher than they’d have otherwise been if they didnt expose them all to covid infected people

further they also denied alternative care and preventatives that worked

and then gave them “care” that killed them, like beng placed on ventilators

and further, thes egovtards would not let anyone take their elderly folks out of there, and wouldn’t allow family to care for them there either

so they were isolated and left to die and not allowed to go other places or even relatives homes

Senator Collins, I don’t believe there is a Constitutional right to murder one’s baby.

Watch an older woman have a cow.

There’s a litmus test to become a Supreme Court justice - support Roe v. Wade.

“My body, my choice” has been a bedrock legal principle in America for nearly 50 years.

Fifty million babies have paid with their lives for that principle, or about 4 billion years of human life.

Unvaccinated Mr. X is almost certain not to cause anyone’s death who has chosen to be vaccinated and is not getting medical care from Mr. X.

Are 32,000 [~the number of Americans dying in auto accidents annually] vaccinated Americans likely to die if vaccine mandates are not imposed at all outside of health care?

“Sep 22, 2021 — CONCORD — Twenty-four fully vaccinated people have died from COVID-19 since Jan. 20, according to Jake Leon, spokesman for the state...”

via google
https://www.conwaydailysun.com/community/health/24-fully-vaccinated-people-in-n-h-die-from-covid-19/article_40b6a2b2-1bd7-11ec-8158-0b38795d6bd6.html

I suspect most of those 24 would not have died if they had an antibody level test. I suspect most would not have died if they had took appropriate precautions. I suspect some were elderly nursing home patients.

The article indicates this [HB220] is the law in New Hampshire:

“Every person has the natural, essential, and inherent right to bodily integrity, free from any threat or compulsion by government to accept an immunization. Accordingly, no person may be compelled to receive an immunization for COVID-19 in order to secure, receive, or access any public facility, any public benefit, or any public service from the state of New Hampshire, or any political subdivision thereof.”

I am pro-Covid vaccine, but I believe my body is mine alone.

Which is precisely why my elderly mom lived in my home with me until she passed 2 months ago at 92!! I would NEVER have let my mom end up in a nursing home, caring for her the last year was the most difficult task I have ever had in my life BUT I would NEVER have put her in a nursing home!!

"That huge lie invalidates everything else he says."

The number of lies put out by those pushing the vaccine, is staggering.

And anyone pointing out inconsistencies in the official narrative, is immediately banned from social media, and suspicions that somethething is wrong with the whole scenario are greatly increased.

What about gain-of-funtion Fraudci's connection to Wuhan?

Had this been investigated?

Why were Covid positive patients deliberately placed in nursing homes with the most vulnerable?

Why were there instances where, for example: a person dying in a motorcycle accident was declared a Cp-19 death?

And if the above was going on, how does anyone know what the true numbers are?

Could all these deceptions point to something far more sinister?

Was this pre-planned?

Could this be a Plandemic?

There are many strange issues surrounding CCP virus that should be looked into.

Why are questions not allowed?

WHAT. Allowing the doctor and patient to try treatments or prophylactics like HCQ and Ivermectin? Not your body and not your choice. But this idiot doesn’t even want the doctor to make decisions for you, like the good ole days he is wishing for. He wants the bureaucrats to tell the doctors to tell us what to do.
And also. These jerks assume everyone has a doctor they are regularly in contact with as if they are besties hanging out every weekend. In the past ten years I have seen a doctor maybe 3 times at walk in clinics. One for stitches. One for an ear infection, and one for a torn ligament in the elbow. How many even go for a yearly physical exam?

Most doctors are biology majors that were good at memorizing stuff.

Most of them are NOT scientists.

I think the memorization trick is cute, but I don't consider them my intellectual or scientific equal.

I have had a blood test that red flagged an autoimmune disease and every doctor i have been to ignored it because the basic function tests didnt pick up i had the issue..and it just wasnt one set of doctors. It was every doctor across multiple specialities with different hospital groups. They didnt know what to do with the test. One Dr said..that test is usually ordered just by researcher. So what. It shows a problem

But it turns out the lab was telling them a key point...even to the point where it was spelled out by the lab that it indicates a possible tissue problem in a certain organ. If they just would have ordered an ana reflex titer test i would have been saved months of problems

I am livid and fed up with the medical community
