New Shepard’s 18th mission, NS-18, will lift off on Wednesday, October 13, carrying four astronauts, Dr. Chris Boshuizen, Glen de Vries, Audrey Powers, and William Shatner, to space and back.
Good for you Capt Kirk and the rest of the crew.
Yeah, but I think Scotty beat him into space.
Big ta-do about nothing. The thing goes strait up and comes strait back down, suborbital. Blue origin is a failure selling carnival rides.
And, space tourism is the only thing that New Shepherd will ever do. Instead of concentrating on developing a cheap orbital vehicle like others did, they put all their eggs in the basket developing a vehicle that will forever be suborbital.
That thing looks like.......... good grief.
New Shepard is not their only venture. New Glenn is their current vehicle in development.
Unfortunately, Blue Origin’s pace to develop NG is glacial compared to SpaceX, but is still faster than NASA’s pace.
A silly stunt. Others are doing the real work of space exploration. Not Bezos.
Looks like the action at a gas station.
CPT Kirk ought to be firing phasers chasing the green girls.
Hilarious. Leave it to Shatner to take a ride in that thing.
Lots of hellhole Twitter complaining that they aren’t ‘astronauts’. To me if Alan Shephard and Grisom were, then these sub orbitals should be as well. It’s so silly.
They just showed a picture inside one of their Rivian electric trucks they use for transportation. Guess who’s driving the astronauts out to the pad? None other than Dr. Evil himself, Jeff Bezos.
I don’t know that would inspire any sense of confidence.
Alan Shepard walked on the Moon & Grissom’s Gemini 3 was considered a space flight.
Their first launches though were also considered true astronaut space flights as well weren’t they?
Yes. The 2 sub-orbital flights (Al Shephard and Gus Grissom) were both considered ‘true’ space launches. The next one, with John Glenn, was an actual orbital flight.
As for today, they’ve been in an unscheduled hold for 30 minutes. I’m wondering if winds are becoming unfavorable again and they’ll have to postpone.
What time do they shoot the Shat into space?
Hold’s over. They’re driving to the rocket now.
