The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is requesting more than a half-century to review and release information to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to the public.
The agency is being sued by Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency, a group made up of more than 30 professors and scientists, hoping to access information they believe can help cure vaccine skepticism in some people.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was filed by the group in September and they were hoping the courts could expedite the process of getting them the requested information.
The FDA is asking the court to give them 55 years, or up to 2076, to gather and release the data to the general population.
The 1967 FOIA law requires federal agencies to respond to information requests within 20 business days.
However, the time it takes to actually get the documents 'will vary depending on the complexity of the request and any backlog of requests already pending at the agency,' according to the government's central FOIA website.
The agency can not just deliver the documents to those that are requesting them, though.
They must first be reviewed by officials, and any information that could reveal personal information about participants in clinical trials, or sensitive information about Pfizer or BioNTech that could hurt their business dealings, would need to be redacted.
Justice Department lawyers representing the agency say that the request requires about 329,000 pages of information.
They argue that with that many pages to sift through, and the agency already dealing with around 400 FOIA requests, they need a long time to get the files requested ready.
The lawyers also report that the agency only has ten employees assigned with processing these types of requests.

Are any drafting something and all 263 signing/demanding that the FDA release the information on Monday? NOPE.
I saw something that Pfizer has profited $37,000,000,000 on this crap. Wonder how much of that is rebounding right back to those 263.
They don’t care. Their stock portfolio’s are swelling and that’s all that matters.
BB does a great job in spite of the fierce competition by reality.
So informed consent will be possible in 2076?

I remember when a govt agency reviewed 600,000 pages of emails in a few days. When they want to produce fast something they can.
Yet a FOIA request for basically the same data is going to take 55 years? They are simply lying and trying to subvert the request "We're not saying 'no' - that would be illegal. We're only saying it's going to take a while."
Either they were wildly, criminally negligent in their duties and don't have the data in any organized fashion - meaning they never bothered to analyze it. Or the data points to things they would rather not admit - like there is information in there that indicates they should not have issued the approvals they did, and that the approvals were politically motivated not based on science.

Exactly. This "volume of records" excuse is utter horsesh*t. Moreover, if what is being requested are the records that the FDA reviewed in formally approving the Pfizer vaccine, then what does it say that it'll take decades for all the records to be reviewed for FOIA purposes? How long did it take for the FDA officials to review those same records in approving the vaccine? A hundred days or so?
Our government is mocking the people for whom it ostensibly works. That there are people -- including some here on FR -- that can't see that, even now, is pretty telling, not to mention discouraging.

Riddle me this batman. If its going to take the FDA 55 years to release the data, how the hell did they review it all so quickly for approval of the so called vaccine? Perhaps they are negligent in their due diligence.
