A few weeks into Joe Biden’s presidency, I had the following thought: How many articles, opinion pieces and stories can be written and/or reported about one person’s utter stupidity? At some point, the sheer repetition of pointing out Scranton Joe’s uselessness as a leader, speaker, role model and human being would become background noise. It’s now just accepted that this man has no discernable virtues as a leader, no abilities that come to the fore, and is possibly the most annoying blowhard that has ever been in government.
None of this is a revelation to anyone who has been awake or had a television for the last 40 years. I remember watching Biden grill Robert Bork in 1987 during Bork’s Supreme Court nomination hearings. I was just a kid, but I was struck by what an embarrassment this Biden guy was. It’s hard, but also easy to articulate Biden’s incompetence. It’s hard because it’s outside of the realm of our ability to reason. It doesn’t make sense that a country as advanced as the US would have people in power that clearly have no discernible skills to be in such positions of power.
It’s true that A’s hire A’s and B’s hire C’s. Meaning, that people who operate at an A level try to surround themselves with the best available staff. Even, or especially, if they’re better at certain things than themselves. They’re not intimidated by smart, capable people. But those who are B’s and lower look for staff that won’t show them up. They like to lord it over their underlings that they are, in fact, underlings. Their insecurities show in the people they hire. Who does a D-minus like Joe Biden appoint to make him look good?

And a substantial minority of “Republicans” on Capitol Hill go right along with them. Why, do you think, when Rs controlled the Senate and the House (McConnell and Ryan) there was no defunding of NPR, no abolition of the Department of Education, no attempt to rein in out of control police agencies like the FBI? Why is it that you don’t hear a peep about the scandal at CIA where multiple employees engaged in child sexual exploitation but were not subject to prosecution?? Why is there silence over the FBI using taxpayer dollars to break down doors, humiliate people, and create a “public show” in their neighborhoods over minor “offenses” while they do squat about Hunter Biden’s laptop, allow Hillary to erase her own laptop and select which of her 40,000 emails are relevant and should be turned over, do nothing when Eric Holder defied a congressional subpoena? Where are these solons of the Republican Party who make big noises at election time then are quiet as church mice when speaking up matters? It reminds me of old man Bush whose speechwriter wrote a book about the aftermath of his losing campaign for reelection -Bush needed to make a farewell speech to the election and told the speechwriter he didn’t want “any of that conservative junk in it”. Two faced liar, in your camp at election time and won’t be seen with you at any other time.
