Audit Forward, a group demanding a so-called “forensic audit” of the 2020 presidential election, submitted a petition to Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s office Tuesday.
This is similar to what pro-Donald Trump supporters have done in Arizona and Wisconsin, two other states the former GOP president lost in 2020.
The petition would require a review of all ballots and vote tallies for all federal, state and local elections, an examination of all state voter registrations and a review of all secretary of state communications, among a number of other requirements. Additionally, the petition aims to create triggers that would mandate “forensic audits” of future elections, such as tampered ballot boxes, destroyed election materials or when at least two poll books in a precinct are out of balance.
The petition states that local communities that do not cooperate with an “audit” are at risk of losing 10% of their state funding and anyone who interferes with the “audit” would be subject to a felony charge of up to one year or a fine of not more than $1,000.

“Calls persist from those who have been lied to and taken advantage of by partisan state legislators, national figures, and others for unofficial, illegitimate reviews of the election results,” Benson said in a statement. “This small group of grifters and wealthy supporters is pursuing a political strategy that threatens the survival of our democracy, and our nation.”
Benson said the Bureau of Elections will process the petition “in a nonpartisan and unbiased manner, as they would any other submission.”
Voting rights advocacy groups also pushed back against the petition.

Ah, so by the idiot’s logic, any type of AUDIT threatens the survival of democracy? W T F. Seems to me it would solidify, I mean gee, if there was nothing to hide or no nefarious BS in the votes and/or count(s). /s
Over the target. Bombs away.
If transparency threatens it, it certainly isn’t our democracy.
Somebody should punch that guy in the mouth.
Since we don’t have a democracy, what’s the problem?
The democrat taliban party simply demands power at all costs. This is a civil war, folks. Just because the dems choose to use lawfare as their primary weapon, and not bullets and bombs, does not mean we are not in a civil war.
re: “Benson says petition to ‘audit’ the 2020 election ‘threatens the survival of our democracy’ (Michigan)”
Like, bank audits threaten the solvency of a bank?
YEAH - if the bank has been ‘cheating” ...
I agree with her, but for a different reason.
An audit would expose the shenanigans, prove Trump won, and end in civil war or at least a massive succession.
And their half would no longer be a democracy, they would get the dictatorship of oligarchs they wished for. (whatever ‘rule by a few’ is called, I can’t remember)
Another reason to audit 2020 and fix the fraud!
“Secretary of State Benson, how exactly does auditing an election to insure it’s integrity and accuracy threaten Democracy?”
So her lame excuse is invalid from the get-go.
When a Democrat says “our democracy”, she really just means “the power of the Democrat Party”.
An audit may “Threaten the DS ‘democracy’”, but an audit only strengthens our Representative Republic!
Liberty thrives in the light of day! Illuminate the Truth!
WWG1WGA!
Because it’ll reveal what we know happened?
Because it exposes the total sleeze of the DemocRATs?
Because it means that we’ll have to get rough with the slimy leftists?
Because it might actually result in a much improved country?
Eff the leftists. Eff them yesterday. Eff them today, and super EFF them tomorrow and forever after.
DOWN WITH DEMOCRACY.!! UP WITH THE REPUBLIC.!!
Hilarious. Can happen only on the left...
Sounds like Demonicrat SOS Jocelyn Benson wants to continue to give aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States.
“Auditing our company’s books threatens its survival!”
