double the RDA which is 450mg. Take mag based on bowel tolerance; ie continue to raise the dose until soft stool occurs the cap off and stay there. Should not supplement with calcium, only mag. ovoid oxide and citrate. best forms are glycinate and malate (there’s a couple others but they tend to be expensive like taurate).
take no more than about 200mg at each dosing but try to get to 600-800mg day.
sorry but your statement about mag deficiency being rare is completely untrue. It’s actually quite common and the toxins in the environment block your ability to absorb mag when not supplementing.
completely UNTRUE
Correct. Mag deficiency is widespread and the toxic halides block absorption causing an even worse deficiency
you’re not getting any of the benefits of magnesium when taken in the form of oxide.
...keeping in mind that the RDA of any supplement is to essentially keep you out of the grave. It’s not meant for optimal health. Hence the need to supplement.
fyi, blood tests for mag don’t tell the right story as you store your magnesium in bones, teeth and tissue. It’s not stored in blood; your body pulls it out of the 3 areas to level your blood balance. Deficiency is seen in all the other symptoms; shrinking bones, depression, anxiety, constipation, muscle cramps, high blood pressure, (and I could go on and on)
So which one do you get?
400-420 mg
Just had my blood work done last week, my magnesium level is normal.
In fact everything is in the normal range. Are you a doctor? I’m doing great.
Thank you for your concern, but I have three doctors already…..
“you’re not getting any of the benefits of magnesium when taken in the form of oxide.”
Not exactly true.
All forms of magnesium and other minerals and vitamins are provided to give the amount stated. Some forms have other benefits, and any chelated form of a mineral is expected to be better absorbed in all situations, but the non-chelated can be expected to be fully absorbed under ideal circumstances (good stomach acid, proper bacterial colonies in the gut, etc.).
Anyone taking magnesium oxide is nearly guaranteed to get the majority of the magnesium into their bodies.
I get the largest bottle of Source Naturals Magnesium Malate. My wife prefers the Natrol High Absorption Magnesium Chew Tablets.
We take at least one magnesium a day, but that equates to only about 1/3 of the magnesium needed in a day. If we don’t have a higher magnesium food, we’ll take two.
not to my understanding. Only 4% of mag oxide gets absorbed. that’s why you get major diarrhea when you take even small amounts of that form.
Even you stated to avoid oxide; I’m guessing you said that for some reason.
good luck with mainstream medicine knowing a fraction of what healing requires.
they’re as effective and honest as mainstream media.
doesn’t absorb
Studies do not support your stance.
Magnesium oxide stays in the intestine for some time. If someone drinks coca cola, the phosphoric acid in the coca cola might convert it to magnesium phosphate. I doubt that’s healthy.
well then have at it. you clearly don’t believe that as you stated to avoid it, which is MY stance. explain why people get chronic diarrhea when taking oxide. This is a pretty ridiculous conversation since it’s nothing more than argumentative for argument sake it seems.
have fun on the pot (and not the green leafy kind)
yes, it’s NOT a good form. It does NOT absorb. There’s more mag per weight in the form of oxide but it’s useless. Cheap and shitty (no pun intended)
