The Pacific Grove Feast of Lanterns annual event has permanently ended.
The Feast of Lanterns board voted unanimously to cancel the event indefinitely, the board president told KSBW 8.
“We know we can start something new that can carry on the positive qualities and core values of the feast of lanterns. But with a new name and new adventure,” said board president Christine Gruber.
The Feast of Lanterns organizers plan to work with the community to develop another community event in the future.

The event has had increased scrutiny for the past three years for its depiction of Asian Americans. In 2021 the organization announced changes to the costume and set designs to be more appropriate.
On Feb. 13, the organization posted a formal apology to the AAPI Community for its past harm.
"It was never our intent to harm anyone however we recognize there was harm caused year after year..." reads the apology letter.

Most Asians come from a race that is very old and very resiliant. I predict their ceremony will be back in some other form and under management of some other (less cowardly) activity groups.
Wasn’t much info but that does not seem to be it.
It’s very possible for yellow people to start falling in line for the grievance train.

The replacement will be the “Burning Woman Festival”; a fun filled party that will free the participants from all moral restrictions that frown on such activities as bestiality and pedophilia.
