After a three week absence which ran from Feb 5 to 19, I'm back.
Some FReepers will celebrate my return. Others will feel differently :)
Long story short, I live out in the country in Aiken County, SC. Nearest neighbors are 1/4 mile away and we don't communicate that much.
Due to the remote location, there is no "wired Internet" out here. I chose to use my cell phone's Hotspot to connect to my home computer and the cell tower located about .75 mile from here.
This worked fine for 4+ years. I use the Internet A LOT to keep up with happenings. Don't watch TV. Don't own a TV, etc.
On Feb 5 this year my hotspot connected to the computer just as always. But for some reason it wouldn't connect to the cell tower. Thus endeth upchuck's connection to FR.
Now the Hotspot is working properly again and I'm back to harass my FReeper friends. I manage several ping lists and pings will start again when appropriate. Sure is nice to be home again.
I don’t stream Netflix but am a customer of their disk rental plan. It’s good.
My setup lets me stream stuff from youtube and the propaganda from the news networks without difficulty. I rarely have trouble streaming anything. Trump rallies, yeah!!
Thank you. Nice to be among friends again.
My reseller uses service from one of the largest service providers around. It's name starts with A and is all letters and one special character.
Ya, we watch youtube and rumble when youtube gets weird. We use the internet a lot. My son is in college and uses it extensively for his classes and I work remotely part of the week.
Good for you :)
Have no idea.
I thought about posting this in Breaking but thought twice and didn't do it. Figured the mods had their hands full dealing with real issues.
Thank you.
You made the right choice.
;-)
I will have to look into it.
We have a Verizon hotspot for our RV. It is so handy to have. One day it just stopped connecting. I tried all sorts of fixes but nothing worked so had to buy a new one. It was just over two years old. Sometimes I think these devices are timed to turn into paperweights after two years or so.
According to a RAT either one will do.
I think you’re right.
I had a nice Sony tv 6 yrs old that had a failed circuit board and no replacement parts sold.
Via eBay I actually found a guy in Cincinnati who fixes the boards for 40 bucks, so I went for it and it’s worked for a couple years now. But that’s a rare thing these days.
You got a tower at 3/4 mile???
My nearest one is 7 miles....
No cable, fiber optic or even dsl here.
Just crappy satellite that works occasionally
How did you know that?
You had to be there.
Hmmm...
Living near all those wonderful lakes and not fishing is like being married to Barbara Eden and never having sex, IMHO...😁
:-)
