Russia sanctions: to really hit them where it hurts, we must ramp up our oil and nat gas production to take away their main source of income

The sanctions which the Biden admin are weak and ineffective.

What’s funding Russia’s resurgence is that the price of oil and natural gas have skyrocketed since the Biden admin chose to shut down so much domestic production of oil and nat gas. The windfall Russia has reaped from their energy exports are fueling their expansionist dreams (combined with the limp wristed diplomacy by this Admin and the creation of a power vacuum by the current armed forces leadership focused on issues which make us appear weak).

To reduce Russia’s war chest, announce the restart of domestic production and you’ll see futures drop by half. Russia’s future expansionist dreams will go unfunded.

Increasing Domestic energy production should be done, not as part of the sanctions, but because it makes sense

It reduces the price of energy, ameliorates inflation, gets us out of the Middle East, takes hundreds of billions out of the pockets of Iran and Russia, and would help power our economy.

But as far as Russia and Iran go... it’s hard to fund a war when you are barely breaking even on the biggest driver of your economy (Russia) and it’s hard to export terrorism (Iran) when your main export is sold near cost ... you can barely afford to pay your security service to keep you i power.

Want to bet the Russians or ChiComs paid the Democrats to draw down production?

The only reason Biden opened up the Russian pipeline was because he was paid to do it. Biden is making money by selling off US energy independence.

Won’t happen.

Why should Chairman Xoe do ANYTHING that would prosper Americans?

This is exactly what Biden wants because he figures it will bring about the adaptation of EVs even sooner, they want sky-high gas prices.

That is what you would do if your goal was the well-being of the USA. It should be painfully obvious by now that the goal of his junta is the controlled demolition of the USA and solidifying power.

Their more likely response would be for Biden to blame others and double down and make moves to further ensure their ability to steal elections.

Do any Freepers believe that “sanctions” will result in the flow of Russian oil and gas going to Germany diminishing or stopping ?

I think they will if we attack or push the Ukes into attacking those two areas. They also will if we cut them off swift. Otherwise I think the Germans and others will not support the sanctions and it will cause a big NATO rift.

But if fighting erupts in Ukraine, gas will shut off. Would you supply gas to someone attacking you? And if Uke gas is cut off, Germans and Poles lose their gas unless Nordstream is opened.

Lots of ways this can unfold.

I don’t think so, Europe and Germany in particular would be foolish to reject any amount of fuel they can get from Russia as the US has failed a few too many times to come through on their promises.

You’re chasing the squirrel, dude. Nurse Jill’s patient has no desire to punish Russia in any way for anything. He is doing their bidding.

“…if fighting erupts in Ukraine, gas will shut off. Would you supply gas to someone attacking you? And if Uke gas is cut off, Germans and Poles lose their gas unless Nordstream is opened.”
********************************************************

The existing Nord Stream 1 pipeline has a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas a year. If the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is opened it will add another 55 billion cubic meters of capacity. If Ukraine cuts off the supply of Russian gas piped through its territory then, yes, Germany will be severely impacted and will be under tremendous pressure to approve quick opening of NS 2. If you think about it, Ukraine would be STUPID to shut down that pipeline (they would lose THEIR natural gas supply as well as impacting Germany and Poland) but we will see.

Biden has already crushed the American energy industry. It will take 2 years to get back where we were, even if we went whole hog tomorrow. That would against Biden’s base. It would, in their eyes, increase global warming which they think is the greatest threat.

It’s like a Religion.

They don’t care about Ukraine, but they’ll use it to print lots of money, unaccountable funds, in the long term.

Joey’s brother got a billion for Iraq with zero experience.

Many of the mom and pop oil producers have left the industry. It may take a couple of years to radically ramp up production, and producers don’t want to do that because of the bust that would eventually result. They are not stupid.

Please, what’s important are Super Bowl commercials.

Biden has already claimed Victory.

GM has an Electric Hummer coming out with a 3,000 lb battery pack, and a $78,000 Denali.

Let the good times roll!

$5,000 tracking / remote disabling system is free - for $5,000.

Like Biden says about his Pork Bills, it won’t cost you a penny.

Quite simply, everything Trump did has to be canceled, including energy independence. About the only thing they haven’t got around to yet is re-banning incandescent light bulbs.

Oh goody....let's freeze a whole bunch of people out. These sanctions will only hurt people. And China will simply step in and tell Russia to direct their supply. And/or they will create a special reserve...maybe even in China.

When will we start thinking out of the box.
