Jussie Smollett sentencing: Legal experts weigh in after actor learns fate

Jussie Smollett learned his fate Thursday after a judge delivered the terms of his sentence following a contentious four hours in a Chicago courtroom.

Mere minutes after being ordered into custody to begin serving 150 days in jail, the actor addressed the court one last time – despite the fact he said prior to having his sentence read that he had nothing to say.

The former "Empire" star, 39, stood up and affirmed his innocence in a passionate declaration to Cook County Judge James Linn, saying, "I'm not suicidal."

"I respect you, your honor," Smollett said as he placed his hands together in a gesture toward the bench. "I respect your decision. Jail time? I am not suicidal. ... If anything happens to me in there I did not do it to myself!"

Smollett was then surrounded by sheriff’s deputies before he was led away from the courtroom – but not before raising his right fist in the air on the way out.

In addition to the jail time, Linn also sentenced Smollett to 30 months of felony probation. Smollett was also ordered to pay $120,106 in restitution to the city of Chicago.

He may not be suicidal, but he's definitely guilty . . .

The judge’s statement was a thing of beauty.

Was that his way of saying “Epstein didn’t kill himself”? As if to imply that they will try to get to him in prison?

Does he know something the Deep State doesn’t want to get out, like his relationship with Kamala?

Juicy is an actor and was just creating drama with his words about not being suicidal. He knows nothing but gay sex and bit roles on bad tv shows. He will milk this moment for all it’s worth, we’ve not heard the last of juicy.

He should have to pay for all the work the police did...and all the costs of anything.

Valerie Jarrett won’t like that.

His career needed a boost, so he made up a story, thinking that he could use his two get-out-of-jail-free cards. He’ll never stop blaming Whitey for this instead of his guilty self.

Headlines shouldn’t be proclaiming the result, but his stubborn, irrational choice to remain unapologetic and play the victim.

The shameful part of this is that the probability exists that the left/media will swallow his victimhood and reanoint him once he’s served his pathetically short term.

Wait for it.

“Epstein didn’t kill himself”?

Unlike like Epstein, Jussie did try to hang himself--and he didn't even take the rope off when the cops got there.

The judge’s statement was a thing of beauty.

The Defense insisted that the trial was not televised..., and it wasn't. The Defense insisted that the sentencing be televised..., and it was. This was to ensure that the sheeple would not hear the mountain of evidence which resulted in the jury finding Smollet guilty. I applaud the judge for fully laying out Smollet's actions in concocting his "Hate Crime" HOAX!

He has to pay 120K in restitution. They won't see a dime of it and it will probably be forgiven. He should be in jail the same amount of time that would have been given to a person who would have committed the crime.

But since he's black, gay, and part of Hollyweird he gets a pass.

I predict once he’s out of jail, he’ll be a bigger star than ever.

Sometimes it pays to read to the end of the excerpt.

“…ordered to pay $120,106 in restitution to the city of Chicago.”

That amount seems to be low, though.

He got a slap on his limp wrist while we have real patriotic Americans being held in the DC Gitmo under conditions that would make Stalin very proud.

I have a problem with this.
