And much more.

A Russian fellow on this topic explained that the mafia are part of the state, and that this intimidation against the military is deliberate in order to keep the military weak. Killing and firing worthy commanders is also deliberate.
The reason is because the State is a Security state operated by the KGB/FSB. They fear the power of the military and so they systematically ruin it. High positions are filled with FSB officers with no command experience. Generals or commanders who become too successful are treated like trash and sometimes removed or even killed if they manage to obtain some kind of fame, for fear that the general could become a political figure.
The result is that the military, aside from some special forces groups, is filled with the dumbest possible people who can only fight the enemy from a great distance. Hence wiping out entire Chechen cities with bombs and artillery. Same in Syria. And they’re working on that in Mariupol.
Wan’t there a Monty Python skit on that?
This is the army that neo-cons have been trying so hard to frighten everyone about.

Who knew that systematically persecuting and massacring those who have a love of nation and commitment to defending their nation, strong ethics, religious faith, and values of bravery and endurance, would lead to having a sh1tty Military? Hm.
I feel bad for the soldiers on both sides but I’ve been seeing the footage regarding the Russian soldiers being killed when they probably could’ve been captured as prisoners. These are probably poor uneducated young man being led to the slaughter. Why would you allow convoys of Russian tanks with one or the most two vehicles at a time. When they die their bodies are cremated and no one back home is going to know the truth of what happened. This is sick and sad and the hard fact is our country is pushing for this war to continue.

Huh? The only one who can stop the war is Putin. It will be over the minute he orders his troops back to Russia. There’s nothing “our country” can do to stop him from doing that.

We just sent $800 million worth of hardware over there, and I don’t hear anyone in the administration or in Congress on either side for that matter talking like we need to look for some cease-fire and negotiated peace. To the contrary everything is inflammatory every single thing. I don’t know which TV shows you watch but it’s obvious to me why this admin wants this conflict to go on and on and on to keep the bad news at home away from the people
Capturing is very high risk, and will cost you troops. Unless they actually surrender, capturing is not even considered. Also, taking prisoners is a huge burden when your country is being overrun by a superior force. Badly needed troops are sucked away to deal with transporting, housing, guarding, feeding and providing medical care for them.
Ukrainians are fighting and dying for their own soil, no different than if you were fighting foreign invaders in Georgia. A policy of "don't kill the invaders if you don't have to" isn't really reasonable. The deaths of Russian soldiers are 100% on Putin.

i don’t know about mafia, but from all i’ve read the conscripts get pretty much robbed blind on arrival at their duty station...
