Ok. I could be wrong but I’m thinking these were just the drivers. The flunkies. Who arranged it all? Who is behind the drugs really?

And in my mind I’m thinking ‘tomatoes’ = Mafia.

I don’t know why I think this. Maybe it was because the Godfather was on last night...

It could have been for personal use. Pelosi probably goes through that much in a week.

While I detest the drug war and everything about it, if these were innocent drivers, they would/should have acted as innocent drivers. Instead, at least according to the article, they were driving erratically and gave a story that didn’t add up. If they thought they were just hauling tomatoes, they would have presented a bill of lading that was tomatoes, and their story would/should have been completely consistent with that.

The tomatoes might be worth almost as much as the cocaine.

In hot houses.

Most of our fresh veggies this time of the year, comes from south of the border.

The good gardners in the know in this area, never plant tomatoes until 16 May due to the possibility of a late freeze/frost.

Cartel.

The larger question is why - with the legalization of Mexican trucks on US highways for direct border transit - the truck wasn’t adequately inspected at the border.

Better: Why they wouldn’t observe the truck to its destination for further apprehensions and greater numbers of potential intel is another glaring question, because it can be assumed that an alert on a semi is a large quantity and bound for a destination which, in all likelihood, transfers cash to the truck for the return trip.

The perpetual ‘war on drugs’ is a sham. We are LONG past justification for militarization of the southern border.

I think the Sicilian mob would have sent it with olive oil.

Off topic, watched a YouTube video last night where this husband and wife in their 30s are watching the first Godfather movie (1972) and commenting on it. It’s her first time watching.

About 30 minutes, in she slaps her husband’s arm and says “VITO Corleone!?! I thought you said his name was Don!”

She says later. “I don’t think I’d like marrying an Italian. Too much red sauce!”
