The best possible future — the one with fewer climate disasters, extinctions, and human suffering — involves limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. But for this to happen, a new report warns, greenhouse gas levels must start dropping by 2025.
“We are on a fast track to climate disaster,” United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said on Monday while announcing the new report by the United Nation’s preeminent climate body, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
“This is not fiction or exaggeration,” he added. “It is what science tells us will result from our current energy policies. We are on a pathway to global warming of more than double 1.5 degrees.”

BTW - China is the worst polluting nation on earth! Overall, they create TWICE the pollution measured by CO2 output - as compared to the U.S. If Mr. Guterres wants to do anything about CO2 output - he needs to confront China!
If what they say is true, then they would be advocating nuclear strikes on the population centers of India and China. If the fate of the entire planet is at stake, then surely this would be an acceptable loss. Yet they don’t, it’s just more taxes and immiseration of the remnants of the middle class.
In the year 2000, “experts” were saying that snowfall would cease in England “within a few years” and yet it fell again last winter, 22 years later.

What a waste of time and money, we should get the hell out of the UN.
To me the main thing is we’ve known since the days of Moses (3,500 years ago) we’ve had 4 warming periods (counting the Modern Warm Period) each lasting 4 to 6 centuries. Another thing is it’s the cooling periods in which life is tough, not the warming periods.
