If the American Empire Falls, Will the Republic Rise?
American Thinker ^ | May 19, 2022 | J. Robert Smith

Posted on 05/19/2022 6:56:08 AM PDT by Seeing More Clearly Now

Victor Davis Hanson, eminent classicist, provides this warning to Americans in the lead of his most recent article at Epoch Times, updated May 16:

Americans are now entering uncharted, revolutionary territory. They may witness things over the next five months that once would have seemed unimaginable.

It may prove in this momentous decade that the American Empire falls. But take heart, because the fall of the empire — aren't all empires finally a bundle of conceits destined to collapse? — may lead to the revival of the American Republic.

The visions of empire and republic are as starkly different as George Washington and the founders were from Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Much of what constitutes the "American Empire" is a product of progressive doctrine. It was about domestic imperialism perhaps far more than American global dominance. Restoring the republic should be welcomed by citizens dedicated to our nation's founding principles.

We're reaching a culmination. The left's decades-long march through America's institutions succeeded. They control government, corporations, health care, sciences, media, arts and entertainment, education, nonprofits, sports...right down to the Boy and Girl Scouts. They seek to consolidate their control in a handful of larger institutions (government and corporations, principally). An American "reset" is a precursor to a global reset, per the lunatic vision of Klaus Schwab and his acolytes.

Rather, the Republic has fallen and the Empire has taken its place.

We are ruled by a Praetorian Guard in DC. The emperor is an old fool and puppet installed by them. They print money for bread and circuses. The borders of the nation don’t matter, but they will fight for the borders of the empire, in Ukraine, Iraq, Somalia, etc...

The Republic was killed by ALL of our elected AND appointed on usurpation Day when they swore in the ineligible Kenyan from Indonesia in direct violation of the Constitution.

I see it more along the lines of Stalin and his clerks and accountants. Stalin died and the clerks and accountants knew what was really going on and where the assets were hidden.

They took over and became the Politburo.

we are heading quite quickly into an explicitly totalitarian state.

this is second warning bell - if you can move from the US to some place less interested in your thoughts, consider looking into it near-term. I don’t know where that would be. historically the US always was the place to go for that.

I have considered whether southern south america is an option. haven’t been in many years, no real insight anymore. I worry central america in general is too tied to the US and imports in general.

Even with Dem cheating, the Republicans will take the House and Senate. The problem is that they will face unprecedented opposition and obstruction at all levels.

“Restoring the republic should be welcomed by citizens dedicated to our nation’s founding principles.”

*****************

This statement is a bit naive. The only thing Americans welcome is more bread and circuses. We also obsess over material things. No longer do we ask what we can do for our country but rather what our country can do for us. What used to be the heralded Land of the Free has become the Land of the Freebie.

The American character has changed profoundly over the past couple of decades and is much different today due to sweeping demographic and cultural influences. Few really cherish freedom and the nation’s founding principles anymore. We are easily distracted, misled and manipulated by our corrupt institutions and an overbearing government. We have been methodically conditioned to accept this as “normal”.

Only significant amounts of fear and pain change people and cause them to reassess their views and attitudes. Until that point is reached nothing will happen to ignite any kind of popular revolt against the Left and its overbearing instruments of power and control.

************

The problem is their own weakness and fear of criticism. Yes, they will probably take control of the House and Senate. And yes, they will disappoint yet again.

The fundamental problem IMO is that we don’t have a real party that fights for us.

“And yes, they will disappoint yet again”.

That is not the point. They will be obstructed and fought at every turn. The odds are going to be totally against them.

The Deep State has infiltrated everything from top to bottom.

It’s amazing how well Donald Trump did considering what he was up against.

If you're feeling surrounded, don't. There are many more of us than them.

That's the key to his entire argument, but he provides zero evidence and I don't think it is remotely true. Just wishful thinking.

You're right. Most Republicans are of the Mitch McConnell variety where they feel more comfortable being subservient than leading.

That's why Trump is so refreshing - he FIGHTS for us! But are there enough of us remaining to restore the country?

It’s eerie to see history repeating itself. The “deep state”, aka the “swamp” aka the praetorians, is real and not new. ... From Wikipedia

*In the year 27 BC, after Rome’s transition from republic to empire, the first Emperor of Rome, Caesar Augustus, designated the Praetorians as his personal security escort. For three centuries, the guards of the Roman emperor were also known for their palace intrigues, by which influence upon imperial politics the Praetorians could overthrow an emperor, and then proclaim his successor as the new Caesar of Rome. In AD 312, Constantine the Great disbanded the cohortes praetoriae and destroyed their barracks at the Castra Praetoria.[1]”

We need a Constantine, ASAP. Is Trump him?

I agree with you about the Deep State but one of the reasons it is as corrupt as it is, and exerts such enormous power, is because the Republicans never hold anyone in DC accountable. Trust me, nobody in the Swamp fears or respects the GOP. When you do nothing to check abuses of power expect a lot more of it.

The Pubbies bark a lot but they don’t bite. They are pushovers and reliable enablers of unchecked Deep State abuses.

Trump exposed the GOP’s weakness and collusion with Democrats which is why most of the party’s DC denizens despise him.

The GOP always wants to reach across the isle and bend to the will of Democrats.

In politics and war the parties with the strongest will to win usually do. Just saying.

What’s falling is the American republic.

And a better question would be, when that happens will a one world government replace it?

Did that not happen during the Roman empire. Wasn’t it a “world government” since it ruled most of the known world back then?

There are no safe havens anymore—no financial safe havens and no physical safe havens.

The hill you are on is best hill to die on...

What is important is to face it with courage and dignity, not fear.

The only thing that will “fix” it, is the complete annihilation, destruction, obliteration of the 20 most populated democrat cities (preferably from orbit).

Abraham asked God, will you spare the city if I can find 10 righteous democrats?
And God said he would do so.
Then Abraham asked God, will you spare the city if I can find even 1 righteous democrat?
And God said he would do so.
Abraham could not find a single good democrat anywhere in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago, etc. So God destroyed the cities with nukes.
Only when all the democrat cities were burned to cinders, was there finally peace on earth.
