GREENWALD: "Trump's failure to pardon Assange and Snowden was one of the worst and most cowardly mistakes he made"

@ggreenwald

Trump's failure to pardon Assange and Snowden was one of the worst and most cowardly mistakes he made. Few realize how close he was to doing it. He got scared by threats from GOP Senators that they'd vote for impeachment if he did it.

Nah. Trump didn’t think they warranted pardons and I agree. Trump is a law and order kind of guy.

Have you looked at some of the people he actually pardoned?

I do not agree.

I believe that President trump was focused on winning in 2020, believed that he would win and did not want to jeopardize his chances.

A second term would give him the opportunity to do many things not possible in his first term.

President Trump foresaw what is happening today and that to him meant winning a second term imperative.

Tucker Carlson said that the Senate GOP, specifically Mitch McConnell “has sent word over to the WH: if you pardon Julian Assange, we are much more likely to convict you in an impeachment trial.”

All through 2020’s BLM/Antifa “Summer Of Love” Trump hid under his desk.

Aside from whether Assange and Snowden are heroes or traitors, the reason the pardon came up was because, at the time, the issue was how much the deepstate was in control. The possibility that there was concrete proof of government agencies, democrats and republicans working together in secret is why Trump was pressed hard no to use a pardon. The people at threat of being exposed were pressing the hardest.

Your children and grandchildren lives ARE on the line if Trump doesn’t “swing for the fences and have no fear of anyone.”...

Unless the country gets back to the way we were during President Trump’s first administration, America will never be what we want it to be....

My favorite pardon was Charles Kushner, who spent time in prison for illegal campaign contributions to the dreaded blue team, of all things.

You omitted the fact that he hired a hooker to seduce his brother-in-law, recorded it, and sent the tape to his sister.

Probably not the guy you want to stick up for.

In 2005, Greenwald took a long vacation to Rio de Janeiro where he met David Miranda, a 19 year old who had spent his childhood in a Favela.[162] Days after they met, the couple decided to move in together; the two would later marry.[163] Miranda now serves as a Congressman with the left-wing PSOL party.[162] The couple live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.[164][163] In 2017, Greenwald and Miranda announced that they had gained legal guardianship of two brothers, who are from Maceió, a city in Northeastern Brazil.[165][better source needed][166] They formally adopted the two boys in Brazil in 2018.

While Greenwald does not participate in any organized religion, he has said he believes in “the spiritual and mystical part of the world” and that yoga is “like a bridge into that, like a window into it.”

Couple things. First, there is absolutely no proof that Snowden gave anything to the Russians or the Chinese. His material was all encrypted and there is no proof that any state actors obtained anything that he didn’t release publicly. Even if the information was taken from him as an end result, he certainly didn’t intend for that result. I cannot consider him a traitor in any circumstances. Second, why would you assume he is “drinking himself to death”? He lives in Russia with his wife and child. He has a good job and probably an extremely high quality of life.

I agree with Greenwald that he should have pardoned Snowden and Assange. He was going to but threats to back Shampeachment II by the RINO Establishment scared him away from doing it.

It should be one of the very first things he does when he is sworn in after the 2024 Election.

>Even if the information was taken from him as an end result, he certainly didn’t intend for that result.

He willingly put himself under their total power with something valuable to give just by telling a string of characters.

Obviously he told them the password! Even great men wouldn’t be able to refuse it under torture and Snowden was always a weak shitwingler.

—> Anyone who tells anyone, even a fellow American, any classified INFO is a damn traitor

So, theoretically, if someone revealed that the US was breaking the law, he’s a traitor?

Interesting that some posters here believe what the Deep State has told the public about Assange and Snowden.

“Glenn Greenwald is not just the American Left’s most fearless political commentator; his fearlessness is such that he has shifted the expectations for everyone else, too. His rock-ribbed principles and absolute disregard for partisan favor have made U.S. political discourse edgier, more confrontational, and much much better.”
