I left the SC valley a few years ago and had no idea how many public 7/4 celebrations there were in places like Aptos, Monterey and Carmel.

The 4th of July kicked off in Aptos with their annual "World's Shortest Parade." I don't know about that - I remember a parade in Fort Davis, TX that might give 'em a walk for the money...

My college town invented the boombox parade when the scheduled marching band backed out. The local radio station agreed to broadcast Sousa marches and the parade marchers all carried boomboxes tuned to that station.
It was a hoot.

1/2 mile is the world’s shortest parade? Our kids’ Halloween parade was one block. And it’s probably on the long side of the median.
