The PGA Tour-LIV Golf drama has entered its newest phase: litigation.
Eleven players, including Phil Mickelson, filed an antitrust suit against the PGA Tour on Wednesday, alleging the Tour acted unlawfully by suspending LIV Golf players. The plaintiffs seek to have their suspensions overturned and playing privileges reinstated, with a smaller group hoping for a temporary restraining order so they can participate in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

The PGA, like the federal government hates competition.
It's what happens when you become too big, you forget your original mission and you morph into solely wanted to protect your fiefdom.
Yup - Saudi backed or not, this is simply monopoly behavior and should be stopped.
I suspect this suspension may backfire like the sanctions upon Russia has.
Sort of like the NRA.
Do you think we could talk the Saudis into ponying up $50B to do an alternative NFL? There’s only one thing worse for football than the NFL monopoly, that’s the woke arsed, BLM preaching, anti American NFL monopoly.

The PGA is on thin ice from an antitrust standpoint. My guess is that they hope to drag the case out until they can get some form of administrative and legislative relief.
I think NFL would be harder because its more teams that are popular than players whereas Golf its largely individuals that are popular.
Yep, they get so big they lose sight of their goals.
Judges prefer the participants settle.
From a "journalist". See Tagline.
I really don’t see the PGA’s point of view except they seem to want totalitarian control over professional golf. Must be run by Democrats.
Yes, accurate observation for sure.
Yet, no complaints about Mubadala, a sovereign UAE, government controlled investment company, that sponsors a WTA tennis tournament in San Jose, the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic.
<< my suspicion is this will settle. >>
As Trump said, they’ll eventually merge, and those who took the big upfront LIV money will look real smart.
Yep, which is why the public whiners on the pga tour should simply zip it.
I think the PGA Tour is on thin legal ice with LIV. They have routinely allowed tour players to play in the Masters and other championships that are not affiliated. Seems that would preclude them from specifically singling out LIV events. (I’m not an atty).
Yep, we'll see how soon it gets settled.
