I have about 3,500 vinyl records, about a third of which I purchased one record at a time, and the rest I bought in box lots at a state sales for pennies on the dollar. What that means is, about 15% of my collection is a bunch of stuff like Henry mancini. It’s the stuff that, when you buy a record on discogs, go through one of those records into stiff in the package. 🤣

That said, when I’m in the right mood I can actually appreciate them. But only in small doses. What makes them kind of fun to listen to is there historical significance. I also have a console stereo from the 60s that I use to play things like that. It completes the experience.

Sorry about some of the confusing wording in that post. I spoke it into my phone and forgot to proofread.

I saw him in person once, years ago, with a traveling orchestra, when they gave a concert in our town, with him directing. He had so many great songs,HIT songs that I can’t possibly think of them all.
Baby Elephant Walk, the Peter Gunn Theme, Moon River, it goes on and on.

I don’t have many of his albums, but one that stands out is his partnering with Doc Severinsen with “Brass on Ivory”. Two masters entertaining us…

Henry Mancini’s work is, in a word, amazing. He was so creative, and prolific, giving us so much wonderful music.

What a legacy.

I saw him & Andy Williams together in the early 70s. It was a really nice show.
