I'm looking for feedback regarding adjustable gas plugs for an M1 Garand. M2 Ball and equivalents, like most other ammo, isn't all that easy to come by but I've been able to find plenty of 150gr 30-06 though it's generally at higher pressures than M2. My understanding is that an adjustable gas plug will allow me to dial in adjustments for modern, higher pressure ammo, heavier bullet weights, etc. If anyone has experience with, and recommendations regarding, these plugs I'd be happy to hear them.
Here it is

Note: With the standard gas plug that comes with the M1 Garand never shoot heavy grain bullets. You will bend the operating rod. See article below.

The Garand likes 147 grain ammo. Use that.
FReepmail me if you want to be added to or deleted from the list.

I use a ported gas plug from Garand Gear:
Here’s a quote from their website: “The Ported gas plug has a tuned port which increases the starting volume of the gas cylinder causing the peak gas pressures in the gas cylinder to drop by over 30%.”

To date, I have had no issues.
I love my Garand. It was sent to Korea but was never issued. I bought it many years ago from the CMP store in Anniston, AL.
Don’t be an ass
I did try to order some of that but the site I went to seemed legit on its face but then wanted me to Zelle the payment to some Gmail address. That and a price of $.50/rd just made the whole thing look a little sketchy. Ordered some Prvi Partizan from Lucky Gunner instead.
Bookmarked. Thanks!
Similar question, will a M1a shoot 168 grain ammo or stick to 147 grain?
Hmmm...
Talk about getting a woodie...
The Garand likes 147 grain ammo. Use that.

It is NOT about the bullet weight, it is the powder. Faster burning powder increases pressure to quickly which may bend the op rod. Todays 30.06 powder is not the same burning rate.
I have reloaded Garand ammo to M2 USGI specs for decades.
I’ve put about 500 rounds of off the shelf Remington 150 grain .30-06 through my Grand with no problem. The CMP says any commercial SAAMI spec ammo is safe for the Garand.
Not same subject; but, as people get older, the operating spring gets harder to remove for cleaning. Any tools or ideas on removing?
I bought one but don’t use it, nice to have if “normal” Garand ammo gets scarce. Was able to buy 500 rds of M2 ball - always a hit at the range.
Totally unnecessary.
M1A ,civilian version of M14 ? The offshoot of the Garand fed thru a Magazine
In .308 caliber should not
Be finicky as the Garand,
I’m assuming.

Am I correct?
