Do away with 1200 year-old institutions in the name of “modernity,” and watch what happens next to a country. Just ask the Russians, Chinese and Germans.
Mine aren’t you the bitter one.
Why?
Always remember.
The kings of England refused the colonies repeated requests to end slavery.
“As long as the colonies are under the Crown, there will be slavery there.”
When the revolutionary war started, seven northern colonies wound up declaring slavery illegal and done.
The Queen worked harder and more diligently in her lifetime, and bore more responsibility, than that I’ll wager you have ever done, or could do.
It’s real easy to be a smartass on the internet.
The Queen Mother or the queen herself ???
The mother of Elizabeth was also Elizabeth and was fondly nicknamed the ‘Queen Mum’
She lived to age 100 ...
Her daughter, the queen was never referred to as the Queen Mother ...
I think Charles V was German ...
Katherine of Aragon was Spanish ...
Well, the Royal Family is responsible for maybe $6 billion in revenue from tourism, they sell rights to events like weddings, funerals and tributes so, they are responsible for even more loot.
And we aren’t talking about just a queen. Here family represents lineage that crosses borders and has resulted in “Marriage” deals or prenups that have prevented wars or improved trade deals.
But, her lasting contribution was her steadfast leadership during the bombing of London and providing leadership to her family, which the citizens of the UK look to in times of crises.
Keep a stiff upper lip and carry on.
Without The Church of England the Protestant movement would not be where it is today so, sorry Anne Boleyn but, I’m a Baptist....
Dear Facebook
Your forgot the “in-bred’ part. Anyone who agrees with ‘royalty’ can never be conservative. “Royalty” is simply an accident of birth. The entire “royal” family are simply in-bred welfare recipients.
“Queen Elizabeth’s historic and remarkable reign left a tremendous legacy of peace and prosperity for Great Britain. Her leadership and enduring diplomacy secured and advanced alliances with the United States and countries around the world,” Trump said in a statement from his website 45office.com.On September 9, after Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth II had died at age 96 at her Balmoral home in Scotland, multiple rainbows seemed to spontaneously appear in the skies over the United Kingdom. The former president shared condolences on behalf of himself and former first lady Melania Trump.
“Melania and I will always cherish our time together with the Queen, and never forget Her Majesty’s generous friendship, great wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor. What a grand and beautiful lady she was—there was nobody like her!”
Trump said during his presidency that he was a “tremendous fan” of Queen Elizabeth, telling British newspaper The Sun that “she has really never made a mistake.”
... “May God bless the Queen, may she reign forever in our hearts, and may God hold her and Prince Philip in abiding care,” Trump concluded in his Thursday statement.
The monarchy might even be a profit-making enterprise for the British public. I've heard the monarchy referred to as "Britain's answer to Disneyland."
The changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace draws countess tourists every year. Royal guards and castles plaster British travel brochures.
In some ways, the Royals are like those people in Mickey Mouse and Cinderella costumes at Disneyland. They get paid more, but that's part of the attraction. Unlike Cinderella they're "real" royals, and the high pay is necessary to keep up that illusion.
They also serve other purposes for the British government. PR and diplomatic stuff. If Britain fired its Royals, they'd have to hire more diplomats and PR flaks. They cost money too, and might not be as effective.
It's a cushy job, but it has its drawbacks. You can't tell the world what you believe. We're free to spout our own political opinions, write books, make YouTube videos and films, saying whatever we please.
They're even more deplatformed than us. Everything they say in public must first be vetted and approved by their woke Parliament. Step too far out of line, and you'll be fired or forced to resign.
What a waste of a vanity. Perhaps your next one should be your opus.
Biden, Clinton, Obama family says “what?”
If you’re going to have a monarchy, Elizabeth was the kind of person you’d want at the head of it. Charles and Camilla re not.
She seemed dignified, stable, elegant, and proper. We could use a little of that.
Christianity is Freedom. That is why America is a Christian nation. Not simply demographics. It is because both things are built on the individual's ability to run his own life and determine his own final destiny.
You don't need govt to grant your freedom. And you don't need religion to save your soul.
It is no sin to desire a Free Republic instead of a ruling king nowadays.
But no form of govt is always good. Boris gave the Brits an English Greta. King James gave the world an English Bible.
There are plenty of British royal failures to highlight, same as the kings of the bible. But without the monarchs and the kings of the Catholic and other Christians religions defending the faith at times, America would quite possibly have been born a colony of Muslim tyranny.
A decent Christian in this queen's case can honestly hate the monarchy while respecting the monarch.
I would have loved to meet the lady who met every president since Moses.
And I will.
I am not much a fan of the monarchy, but the only queen who I think could have done a better job at it than Elizabeth was Freddy Mercury.
“A church that pretty much aligns closely with the doctrine of the Catholic Church, but in many cases is even more heretical.”
Wow. If there was ever one sentence someone could post that said, “Look at me. I’m stupid and a bigot,” that was it.
