THE ISRAELITE ORIGIN OF THE SCYTHIANS

The ten tribes of Israel essentially vanished from their former Kingdom of Israel by circa 721 BC. They had been a powerful kingdom in the Eastern Mediterranean region for centuries prior to that time. They had been allied to the city-states of Tyre, Sidon, etc. in what historians now call the Phoenician Empire. Their alliance dominated the ancient world’s maritime trade routes and, from the time of King David onward, became a powerful military power on land as well. They were exceedingly blessed by God during the time of Kings David and Solomon, but a long succession of sinful kings led to a steady decline in the strength and influence of the kingdom of Israel. During an approximately 20 year span between 740-720 B.C., the ten tribes of Israel went into foreign exile in several waves. At the beginning of this period, the Assyrians took captive the tribe of Naphtali and the Gileadite tribes of Gad, Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh (II Kings 15:29). By circa 721 B.C., all of the ten tribes of Israel who had formed the northern kingdom of Israel had been removed from their lands (II Kings 17:18). While the house of Judah remained in the Promised Land for a time, many have puzzled over the fate and future of the ten tribes of Israel. Where did they go? While the Bible foretold that the tribes of Israel would scatter, literally, to all four directions (Genesis 28:14), the remainder of this article is devoted to connecting many of the exiled tribes of Israel to one largely ignored confederation of tribes which emerged afterward in the region of South Russia: the Scythians.

Yes, just from the link given, I expected to see DNA results. While the linguistic evidence , etc, is very interesting, it should be possible to find DNA evidence. An article like this today that doesn’t even mention DNA is, maybe not suspect, but obviously lacking.

the genetic evidence I’ve seen from israel is that they are a mix of whole bunch of different people. further Abraham’s father was from Ur. They were refugees from the sumerian empire which was collapsing during the period in which they left. The sumerians of Ur were not a semetic people. (Just to the north the people of Akkad—were a semetic people.)

The marsh arabs of today build houses exactly like those depicted in ancient sumerian drawing but their genetics have long since become mixed up with other peoples in the area.

The jews like the christians are not a genetic line but rather a faith. As in the righteous shall live by faith.

You want to please God, do stuff that requires you to live by faith and trust in God.

There is no one more hopeless than an atheist with a guaranteed high paying pension, or an atheist tenured professor, or an atheist government official whose only job requirement is to keep is to keep in good odor with his bosses. Yet these dominate our culture.

The most likely explanation is that the Ten Lost Tribes no longer exist. The Assyrians deported the elite and urban populations that were still alive after invasion (27,290 according to Assyrian cuneiform records), and moved in a new ruling population from other lands that they had conquered. As time passed, the deported Israelis were too few to maintain their identity and were absorbed throughout Assyria. The bulk of the Israeli population stayed behind as farmers, peasants, herdsmen, etc, and their DNA is still present in the Syrian, Palestinian and Lebanese populations.
